Well, its an interesting topic.
Before my landing in Canada, I have faced the hardest time of my life in Pakistan; only for the sake of speaking truth, being assertive and not obeying the unlawful orders. Just to give you a glimpse, I was advertised in the newspapers and tv as drinker, drug seller and what not - though I have had not even touched these items while being lived in the countries where these things are necessary social evils. Only having in mind that they are Haram in Islam. My salary was stopped for three months while my spouse was in her last trimester of pregnancy. I was asked to bow in front of bureaucracy but I preferred to bow in front of Allah. I was sure that all that happened because of some reason as "Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear...” (Qur'an, 2:286)".
The Chief Minister Complaint Cell, PM Complaint Cell, Chief Secretory Compliant Cell, Ombudsmen Offices and all other governmental o& non governmental organization were found use less and in vain.
I even have imagined that as I am moving to a new place, I am being toned up to confront the challenges feasibly by putting in this situation - especially while my loved one and caring ones are around. That rough time; which at one moment use to seem like encompassing to centuries, has helped me for convenient integration and better amalgamation in the culture. The problems of finding job, place to live, being alone, waiting to find a family doctor, going here and there all seems nothing when I recall those moment of hardship.
The sole purpose of saying all this is that please do take this time as toning up yourself for the new challenges of life - though I wish you all a smooth integration - after your landing here in Canada. There is no doubt that it some time seems like skin peeling when some family member utter such kind of dialogues as quoted by you colleagues. But use such things in your benefit ( similar the way boxer are ignited before they enter into ring).
Smooth roads never make good drivers!
Smooth sea never makes good sailors!
Clear Skies never make good pilots!
Problem free life never makes a strong & good person!
Be strong enough to accept the challengers of life.
Don't ask Life
"Why me?"
Instead say
"Try Me!"
PS: You need not necessarily to agree my comment.
