Hello all..

I am a Canadian citizen and working in the Middle east over 4years, and since my wife is Indian and we were living together in the middle east and we visit our second home in India time to time. We have two kids who is 3.5year old girl and 10months old boy baby both are born in India. And both our kids have received their Canadian citizenship card as well as the Canadian passport. However, we are planning to go back to Canada for good and I have cancelled my Dubai visa and right now staying in India with my wife and kids. Since, I have few questions that would ask here and get any suggestion / help from you guys for: How can I take my wife with me and kids without the PR as she is Indian citizen and never been in Canada, Is it possible can we get a visa to my wife and then apply for her PR from Canada? , is there any way we can convince the immigration officer through email explaining the situation as our intention is to stay in Canada for good, especially my daughter has to start her school soon and we would like to have her education from Canada. I would appreciate your kind help on this matter as per your great knowledge. Thanks.

How can I take my wife with me and kids without the PR as she is Indian citizen and never been in Canada ?

Well you need to apply for the PR and thats the best option you have as a Canadian Citizen.Being Canadian you dont need to be in Canada to sponsor your wife for PR.I am Canadian and I am in India with my wife as her processing is going on...

Is it possible can we get a visa to my wife and then apply for her PR from Canada?

Chances are very very low you get visitor visa when you can apply for her PR....You can take a chance....

is there any way we can convince the immigration officer through email explaining the situation as our intention is to stay in Canada for good, especially my daughter has to start her school soon and we would like to have her education from Canada?

You should include this in your Cover Letter when you apply for your spouse PR..ie your intentions to return back to Canada, how you will be supporting your family etc etc as soon as you get ur PR.They wont entertain with Emails nor you would get response....Good luck

Thank you for the response..

Do you know the approximate time that will take for the processing (if applying from India)? And is there any link that will help me to get the procedures? I also heard that we have to prepare PCC from India, and can we get the PCC from India prior to send any application to the Immigration Canada? ..Thanks again for your help.

Hi there,
I live in canada and i became a PR in 2010. Now I want to go to bangladesh and get married. Can someone tell me how it works and how long it might take? I just visited the immigration website and it says that any application that has been made after oct 15 2012 has to live with their husband 2 years before sponsering... Does this mean i have to move to bangladesh for two years ? Or do we just have to be married for two years ?

Hey,

I suggest you read the first post by Leon called "spousal sponsorship", it will give you an overview of the process.
Current waiting time is: stage 1 : 21 days, and stage 2 when going through New Delhi is listed as 10 months. However, 10 months is the time it takes to process 80% of the applications, so with a straightforward case (2 kids, and living together), you're likely to be done before. However, nobody can tell you exactly.
Here is the link to the waiting time ( they are updated: stage 1 every wednesday, stage 2 : 4 times a year). http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp
The procedure you need is all explained on CIC website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

Download the forms, read them and READ the guideline before, and start putting everything together. It takes a while to gather all information, and your wife will need a Police Check for every country she has has lived for 6 months or more, as well as a few other documents - see the guideline.
Good luck,
Sweden

Stage 1 = 21 days as of today.See the link below and it changes every week when CIC does the updates..

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

Stage 2 = 10 months. i.e Delhi Embassy

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp

Yes you can get PCC and let the police know that you are applying for Canadian Immigration and they will issue you once the do there work. PCC should be included withe application package and PCC should not be more than 3 months old from the date of application.

Go on www.cic.gc.ca and follow the instructions about Spousal Sponsorship. You will find all the Forms and details you need to know.If you need more information feel free to post your msg on the board...

You do not have to live with your spouse for two years before sponsoring. You can sponsor your spouse as soon as you get married. For applicants after Oct. 15, 2012, the PR visa they will receive will be conditional. The couple has to live together for two years after the applicant 'lands' in Canada to get the conditions removed.
