I was worried about the same thing. I mean, what’s one supposed to do? We can survive about 6 months but after that, with only one of us making an income... and we applied inland so it’s not like we could leave and live in my partners home country (Spain) until the work visa comes. We are healthy financially, for now, but as a sponsor I wouldn’t be able to receive social assistance either... strange situation.
I hear ya! We moved back to Canada in Sept. when I was pregnant so I didn't start working. We applied in November and I thought we'd wait 4months and my husband would get his OWP and start working but it's 5+ months now and they haven't even opened our OWP application yet! I'm still not working and now looking after our baby so we're living off of savings that is quickly diminishing. Not to mention having to pay for health coverage for my husband as he can't get provincial health care until his OWP comes. I can't even get CERB because I wasn't here in the 2018 tax year and didn't earn over $5000 for them to base it off of :(

Oh my... I’m so sorry :( that sounds extremely stressful. Your situation is so straightforward yet it still falls through so many cracks and I hate to see that you guys have been left in such an impossible circumstance. I’m hoping since you did apply in November hopefully something will happen soon in terms of progress for you all... I can’t believe you applied about 6 months ago and haven’t received anything yet. Obviously you’ve received your AOR right? If you applied in November, that should bring your AOR to about Jan/Feb so hopefully you will hear something this month. I’m going to put it into the universe that you will hear back this month :) I know savings go so fast but we just have to be thankful that we even have savings to begin with. I can’t even imagine the stress for those who don’t...
I hope they acknowledge some of the potentially impossible situations, like ours, and make some kind of consideration or something. For example my partner losing their job because the entire company shut down due to covid19...
Either way, the day will come when we receive everything❤

You are so kind, thank you for putting your good vibes out in the universe for me....I'll do the same for you! We did receive AOR in January so the PR app is processing (well....was...until covid). But it's the OWP that's so important to us because it meant my husband could work and get health care! It is unusual for them NOT to have even looked at the work permit app yet so we got our local MP to look into it...no word yet.

I'm hoping that once everything is up and running again they "mass approve" everyone's apps and expedite everything to prevent the backlog. Makes logical sense otherwise immigration timelines are going to be months if not years behind if they don't find a way to catch up. So fingers crossed!

Please help!!

Hi, Is there anyone who have the same scenario as mine...

We applied for Spousal Sponsorship ( under my wife student visa). my wife granted student visa for 1 year and it will end Aug 2020.
We submitted the application on Dec 2020, & the Biometric on Jan 30, 2020 submitted
but due to the Covid-19 the application was put onhold.
Question:
1. Is there any possibility that our application shall be approve, even though my wife schooling is nearly finish?
2. What we have to do or do the IRCC will call us on what we need to do regarding the application?
3. Lastly, should we apply for 2nd course for my wife then reapply our spousal sponsorship application?

THANK YOU

  • Record of solemnization (*** I know this is not considered valid but our marriage certificate is on pause for processing right now because of covid-19 and we explained this on a separate letter).
Is this normal? We recently got married and are currently waiting for the marriage certificate to submit our application.

Any updates on your application @canadiangirl88?
