Hi PMM, Please help me out here..

I am almost ready with my sponsorship application of my wife who lives in Atlanta and working on H1B visa. I am working and living in Toronto. We are from India. We met for the first time in October 2007 through internet and did civil marriage in April 2008.

By reading all your post I realize that its very important to give proof of relationship. I have following stuff as a proof.

- Photos of trips with spouse
- Proof of ongoing correspondence between you and your spouse (letters, emails, instant message logs, etc)
- Phone bills showing long distance calls to each other
- Marriage certificate

However my question is we did not have any formal ceremoney as her whole family is back in India so we are planning to have formal ceremony back in India in early 2009.

Therefore, I do not have any formal ceremony/reception pictures taken and enclosed as a proof. However we have plenty of pictures with our six trips together in past six months.

Can it create any problem in our application? what kind of problems could it create?
And what could be the remedy for that? I am done with all my paperwork..

I am just waiting for your reply... please help me out..

Thanks in the anticipation
PKD

As long you have picture taken when you got married in civil, other wise for sure they will ask you again to remarry , as for my case we married in civil with no family i have 2 witness , we used cell phone camera to have an evidence in ceremony, well good luck

Thanks for the reply...

We do not have any pictures inside the court while civil marriage..though we have some pictures taken outside the court..We have the legal marriage certificate from the county.. then how can they ask us to remarry if we are already legally married??

Thanks,
PKD

CIC will very likely require you to send photos and other evidence that the formal ceremony has taken place. This may prolong your application process if the cerimony is far into the future. This is a requirement that they have placed upon me which I think is what they were waiting for to continue on in the processing of my application. Just a guess, but I received contact from them within 10 days of having the cerimony that I told them about in my initial application. At that time they requested documents and pictures regarding the cerimony. I hope this is helpful to you.

Best wishes!

Thanks for the reply.

Does that depend on the visa office? I am applying from BUffalo, NY visa office. Where were you applied for your spousal visa? Since I have not submitted application yet, Based on your answer would it be advisable to have a Indian traditional wedding ceremony in temple with few friends just to show the formal ceremony? if that what they want to see..

However there wont be many people around in that ceremony?
Your reply will be greatly appreciated?

Thanks,
PKD

I am an American. My application was transfered from Buffalo to Seattle. There is no way to determine what one visa office will do differently or the same. I think it has more to do with the immigration officer that is processing your file. This could be nothing to be concerned about or it could cause a great delay. You have to decide what is best. However, is there a reason why you could not have two formal cerimonmies? A small one now and perhaps another one as you described in 2009?

Best Wishes.
