My partner will be sponsoring me for permanent residency (common-law partner in Canada). The application asks for a letter from his employer. I know there's no minimum requirement on funds, but he does have to agree to support me for three years. Now his current job is only for a period of 3 years, and he's already started, so it will finish before the end of the sponsorship period. Is that a concern, or will that indicate that he could get a similar paying job afterwards?

I'm also working (in Canada), he earns more than they indicate a family of two needs, and we both have savings, so even if he couldn't find a job for a while after his current one ends, we'd be completely fine. We're trying to determine if we need to justify that we'll have enough money even if he doesn't get another job for a while, or if his current job, combined with his last tax assessment will be sufficient.

Does anyone have any experience with such a situation or know what's recommended?

You're overthinking this. A letter from current employer, a letter from your employer and proof of savings should be fine as long as you have some savings.

Thanks! And probably...

Information about my job / our savings aren't specifically asked for on the form. Is there a particular place to provide extra information like that? Just with my partner's job letter?

You can provide whatever proof showing that you can support yourselves without government help.
