Hi. Im working in tim hortons. Im gonna request the proof of employment but she is out of the country. Can my supervisor sign the letter? Is it a big issue to the immigration?
Hello ejac09,

The letter must be sign of your store manager otherwise it will not accept. So wait for your manager and sign it from her and later submit it to the visa office.

All my dear friends,

I safely reached Canada. I would like to share my experience with you. I was very nervous because I never travel alone. My journey is not tough. My flight was delay 1 hour 40 min and I was worried about to catch my second flight from ABU DHABI. I have only 30 min to catch my second flight and this was my bad experience in this whole journey. In ABU DHABI airport when I reached terminal 3 there was gate no 34 when I entered this gate one officer checked my passport and boarding pass and 2nd time my passport and boarding pass was check before I get into the plane. I reached Canada in morning time. I faced two immigration officers in the Canada airport. The first officer sees my passport and boarding pass.
The first officer ask me –

1. Where you come from?
2. Is it my first time in Canada?
3. Is your husband living in Canada?

After this I go to the second immigration officer. The waiting time is very lengthy. I wait there 1 hour 30 min. Many people faced the second immigration at least 15 min. I see the immigration officer ask them different type of question. One Chinese man shows the communication proof in his phone. The officer ask the man different type of question. I was in a line and the immigration officer call me that time I was prepare myself to face the immigration officer. The officer did not ask me any question. When I first meet the officer I just said “Hello MAM”, the officer ask for my passport, my boarding pass and the 6 pages papers. Then the officer told me that

1. If I am not stay with my husband 2 years, in this situation I lose my PR,

2. I declare that I have no dependents, the officer ask me is it true? I said” It is true”

3. I have to live at least 2 years in Canada otherwise I lose my PR.

I initially sign no 1 and 2. Later the immigration officer gives me 1 page from the 6 pages. The officer said it is most important paper for me. Without this paper I cannot do my insurance, my bank account and other many things.

From my experience I can write that Chinese people face the 2nd interview from 2nd immigration officer and it took at least 15 min. Hope it will help other applicant.

Dear Farhana,

Thank you for sharing your landing experience. I don't understand why you had to wait one and half hour! Was the airport too busy when you arrived?

I remember when I was a previous PR, I landed with my family in 2005 very smoothly in just 10 minutes! The officer was very welcoming and finished his paper work very quickly. So it seems that situation has been changed....

Hello Hasan,

The second immigration line was very long and I saw most of them Chinese new comer. The immigration officer takes time 15 min for Chinese new comer. That’s why my waiting time is long. My second immigration officer took only 7min because the officer did not ask any personal question, the officer just told me in which condition they give me PR and in which condition I can lose my PR.

Dear payel,

I got immigrant visa and I have to face two immigration officers in the airport. In the airport it is a rule to face the immigration especially if you are a new comer in Canada. It is not a interview call, it is just a formal meeting to the immigration officer. The officer did not ask me any personal question. The officer just told me in which condition I got PR and in which condition I can lose my PR. But I noticed the second immigration officer ask lot of question to the Chinese new comer.

Thanks for the clarification.

What did they say about timeline for receiving your PR card?

Did you collect social insurance card? I saw somewhere (but don't exactly remember) that this card is not
issued anymore? Is that true?

This is completely incorrect. There is currently a bill in the senate awaiting approval that may shorten the period for residency from 4 to 6 years to 3 of 5, along with other amendments. You can read about it yourself here http://www.lop.parl.gc.ca/About/Parliament/LegislativeSummaries/bills_ls.asp?Language=E&ls=C6&Mode=1&Parl=42&Ses=1&source=library_prb

He may be referring to spouses who become PR who are accompanying Canadian citizens who live abroad (outside Canada). http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=727&top=4 As long as they are living with the Canadian citizen outside Canada, they can count that time as time towards their residency requirement (of course they have to land first). NOTE that this only will allow them to fulfill the requirement to maintain their residency and that this will not meet the requirements for citizenship - where one must physically reside in Canada for a determine period of time.

Also note that if you remain outside Canada for more than 6 months per year in general you lose all privileges of residency that are legislated provincially (driver's license, healthcare, etc) and in some cases less - it varies by province.

C.
Hi,

Do you have any idea what is the latest status of the bill you referred to above.

Thank you.

Hello Hasan,

Yes I did my insurance. They did not give me insurance card; they give me printed paper and insurance number. I also did my bank account because without bank account it is difficult to get a sim card. The officer told me they will give my PR card 8 weeks later. Most interesting thing when I go for open a bank account the bank officer said in the “CONFIRMATION OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE” paper the visa office mentioned my PR card expiry date.

When you will come in CANADA?

Hello juwelsingh,

I am planning in Mid November. Checked online price in Emirates & Turkish. Return fair is Tk.1,53,000/- (USD1866) and 1,32,000/-( USD1600) respectively. One way Tk.87,000/- (USD 1061) in Emirates, Taka 84,000/- (USD 1025) in Turkish.

(Currency conversion USD 1 = Taka 82)

Thank you ImABule! How is the service of China Eastern? I never travelled by this airlines. Also the difference between Emirates and China Eastern seems insignificant...what's your opinion?
