My wife has sponsored me for inland application which we filed back in October 2011 to case processing centre vegreville. I had my interview on July 2012 at scarborough local office and got a letter stating that everything was good. They asked me to submit a new copy of my passport which i did in August 2012. I had been waiting since then for the second stage of approval and there has been no answer until now april 11th 2013 they send a letter stating that i need to re submit some background check forms to the etobicoke office? I am confused that why do i have to re submit forms now after 8 months? and does this means that my second stage of approval process will take another eight months more now?? I am from Pakistan and my wife is from India. Here is how it looks on the website

Yes this sounds very confusing. Have they had your passport since August of 2012? So a few things, assuming they still have your passport and they have said "decision made" - from that point forward most people get their visas soon after that. However they are either missing some papers from your file or your background check may have expired, I am not sure. In any case, you need to try and get ahold of someone at the visa office that has your file (or the MP for that area) or by phoning CIC to clarify some of what they have written in their letter. Hopefully you will not wait another 8 months, from most of the posts on this forum it seems like you are nearing the end of the process. Keep watching this forum though for other responses, many people have more experience with situations closer to yours. Stay strong and think positive and follow up as soon as you can. Blessings.

The immigration does not have my actual passport they only needed a copy. I called in CIC and they told me that they cannot tell me the reason why they are requesting to refill the background check forms or they cannot tell me a timeline for the second stage. Some of my friends told me that i am from Pakistan that's why there is a delay. I am just confused because when i went for interview they had requested me to bring in all the forms refilled so they already had that updated in july 2012. Dont know how long should i wait or what MP will do for me?

It sounds like CIC is not being very helpful (they may have lost your forms and do not want to admit it) so getting the MP involved often raises the inquiry to a more senior level at the Visa Office and MP's offices can get answers sometimes when we cannnot. I would not sit and wait, be proactive.

Thats definitely too long. I dont think being from Pakistan matters too much. Me and my husband are from Pakistan too, and we filed an Inland application in April 2012. We got out AIP/WorkPermit in October, and our final DM just yesterday. So the whole process took 1 year.

I'd suggest getting in touch with your MP and finding out what's the lag all about. You may also consider ordering your GCMS notes... alot of people order those when they're second stage it taking time.

Thanks for the help will call them tomorrow and ask for GCMS notes see where it takes. Meanwhile I have already sent an email to the MP's office so just waiting for an answer on that.
