You can land without status, no problem, as mentioned by @profiler Don't go out of the country!!! If you go out of the country and you are not readmitted, you cannot land and have to file a new sponsorship application fro outland. You really really don't want that!Doing med checks in the morning. Just curious, my 3 children have student visas currently that expire on 09-30-17. I am hoping the last part of this process goes quickly, but assuming it doesn't- we have to send in for extension of the visas to study by 08-30-17. I am wondering what happens in that case? I send the extensions out on say August 29th and then the next day we get final decision....and I am out the $450 ??? I am currently out of status and was told that I can still land while out of status, but the representatives from the call centre have been advising me that I MUST have a status whether that be a valid worker or visitor status (problem is I cannot be restored and the only way to get a new visitor visa status would be to leave the country and return (which I also cannot do due to the fact that I have a PR application pending). Due to this issue, I am just not sure how it is best to proceed regarding the visas that will expire by the end of September. Any advice?
Regarding the study permit of your children, yes apply in the end of August. If you happen to land before IRCC makes a decision on the extension of the study permit, you can (I don't know the exact procedure) withdraw those application and get refunded. In the worse case, yes you will lose 450$, but that would still be better than having your children unable to attend school in September.
