Hello,

My status as a student expires March 31 2016. I have recently applied for PGWP so I will be staying and working on assumed status. In the middle of April, I will be recognized as common-law (living for one year with my Canadian partner). Can I apply for Spousal Sponsorship then if I am under assumed status? If so, what do I put as my status expiry date on the application?

There is not such thing - assumed status. I guess you meant implied status. You can apply for spousal sponsorship once you're eligible. Your PGWP and implied status has nothing to do with this. These are separated applications.
