Hi there, I am sponsoring my Husband to come to Canada as a permanent resident. We have filled out all our forms and sent everything away months ago. However I since have become pregnant. Is this going to be an issue? I remember one of the forms asking me if I was pregnant when I was filling it out. I was wondering if anyone would know. Or has gone through a similar situation. I have tried contacting CIC but I can never get connected with anyone who can help me with this question. Any thoughts? Thank you :)

I became pregnant twice within our application and also live in Canada. There is no need to update your forms to add the child as they are Canadian and won't need to be sponsored. You can send your Visa office an update though and you will see that they have added the info that you are pregnant/baby was born. I did this for our first child but not this second one as I am only 18 weeks and they have requested the passport already.

When I called CIC this is what they advised me to do

Since the baby will be born Canadian, there is no need to contact CIC about it.

If you want to feel better about it, you can always resubmit the new family information application form with the newborn added to it and sent it along.

To clarify, you don't need to tell CIC you are pregnant but you guys MUST inform CIC of the child's birth if it happens before your husband's PR app is approved. You would just need to email the VO with a copy of the child's birth certificate.

Actually you don't need to mail them anything. The baby is Canadian. You just need to inform them. That's all. I've been through this and we've received passport request. No birth cert handed in. Also shows on our notes that we emailed to let them know of the birth.

It is up to the VO. Some request the birth cert, some ask for updated forms and some ask for nothing.

In the OP's case, they are in Canada and has submitted an inland process. If the OP had done the outland process, I would have recommended they they inform the VO office and follow their instructions.

It doesn't matter that they are in Canada and filed inland. Any applicant is required to update CIC about all major changes including family composition changes, i.e. the birth of a child.

I agree with you. It seems that whenever someone called in to CIC inland, the response from CIC seems to be like this "thanks for letting us know, whatever".
