Spousal sponsorship currently on IEC visa

This question has probably been asked a thousand times but what happens if I do not receive my new OWP efore my current IEC OWP expires?

If cic has acknowledged my application I can assume legal status but can I carry on working or do I need to stop until I get my new OWP??

You will be on implied status (able to stay in the country legally) but you will need to stop working until your OWP arrives.
