Hello everyone,

I need some help.

I have ready the documents to send for my outland application. I want to travel to Canada for holidays. Do I have to be outside form Canada at time we send the application? Can I stay in Canada taking holidays and send the application? Should I wait and travel after they get the application?

Thanks for any help.
Yes, if you have a visitor visa you can travel to canada, it shouldnt affect your app at all.

Hi Jennyjj,

Trust me I feel your pain. I am sponsoring my husband from Ecuador. We married July 31, 2014 and submitted our papers Aug 18, 2014. We had two setbacks with paper work because immigration changed their forms right after we submitted our papers. It also turns out we had a inland form and had to re-submit the outland form. To make a long story short our complete package went in to Mississauga on Dec 1, 2014. I was approved to be his sponsor on Feb 24, 2015 and he rec'v the AOR on March 6, 2015 that his papers were rec'v in Columbia.

Since then we have heard nothing. We completed his medicals and police check last summer before we submitted the papers hoping we wouldn't run into issues. It shows online that they rec'v my husbands medicals on Dec 1, 2014. Hopefully this means we will not have to re-do them.

This whole process has been a nightmare. I live in Canada and travel to see my husband every 4 months. We really hope we are almost at the end. Don't lose hope, just remember how much you love each other and that it's only a matter of time. Some people wait their whole lives to find someone to love, as long as you have that covered, the rest is just a small barrier. Keep in touch!

Awesome post! Thank you so much for it, it puts things into perspective. I am always trying to see the good side of things, sometimes it gets stressfull because i just have no idea what's going on.

Sometimes i wonder if they sent my husband the email and he just missed it. Even though i know he would never miss the email, but it's been so long with nothing! In my case, i cannot even log into ecas. I have tried everyway possible with different numbers, his info, my info, everything! I contacted them, but they really gave me no solution so I have no idea if they received his meds or anything (which i'm crossing my fingers they did because it was expensive).

Please keep in touch and let me know if you hear anything! Goodluck!

Finally I got an email!! It’s not exactly what I was hoping for, but I am SOOO happy to know they are working on my husband’s app! :D

They emailed asking for an updated and complete version of our Background declaration form (looks like we were missing some info :( ). Can someone help me out with tips on how you filled the form out. They specifically need the personal history part and ask for one or two months that I guess we didn’t include. My husband wasn’t working or studying during these months, should we put just that?

Also, they say we need to send via courier, has anyone sent papers that can confirm the address? And should we include the immigration officer number as well?

Thanks for any help I can get!

Hi Jennjj,

I'm so happy to hear that you've heard something!! You're getting close! Stay positive :) So for the time that your husband was not working or studying just put unemployed. If he was traveling, put that he was travelling. You want to be as transparent as possible.

This is the address you should send the docs back to for the Columbia office, which I found on my husband's Acknowledgement of Receipt is:
Immigration Section – Section d’immigration
Carrera 7 # 114-33 Piso 13, Bogotá, Colombia

Also quote your Case#/File # so your docs don't get lost.

Good luck, hope all goes well. Remember you are one step closer.

Thank you so much for your answer! That's what i was thinking of putting, i just wasn't sure the best way to describe his time off during this time.

Did you include the section number? At the bottom of the email it says:

Immigration Section | Section d'immigration | Sección de inmigración - 8

Should i include Immigration section - 8? And thanks so much for the address, i'm sending the paper out today for sure!

You're welcome. Yes I would include the section number just in case. If it turns out you need it then you have it on there. If it turns out you don't no big deal.

Good luck with everything! Glad I could help :)

Hi Jennjj and Lamika04,

Just wanted to let you both know my husband got an email from immigration asking his medicals be re-done as they expired in June 2015 and was also requested the Background A form, just like your did Jennjj. My husband will complete his medicals tomorrow and send everything on Monday, August 3, 2015. We are so excited to finally hear something!! Lamika04 I think you're next.

We are still hoping to marry in a Canadian wedding this October. Cheers for all of us, there is an end to this! Will keep you both posted. Stay positive ;D

That's wonderful news!! Congrats!

According to Fedex, my husband's papers arrive tomorrow so i'll make sure to keep you posted on when they give us info on our next step (im corssing my fingers it will happen quick).

We had to resend section 8 of the background check because we didn't specify months he was on vacation from highschool and University, so we put them as Vacation/Unemployed and filled out those missing months... I really hope everything will be ready with this form.

It's so exciting to know we are getting closer! Please keep in touch :)

Hello Everyone,

I am currently is the process of sponsoring my wife from Barranquilla. Wow! What a rigorous process, I couldn't imagine collecting the historical information, addresses, etc for someone over the age of 30! We had tried to apply for a tourist visa and were unsuccessful due to "A belief that she would not return at the end of her stay" which I could argue that I would make sure but it is what it is.

So application went in to Mississauga in April for processing out of country in Bogota.
Bogota notified us that they received the application 16 July so about 2 months later which is pretty good since it takes about a month for standard postal.
I was approved as a sponsor around the 1st of July so they must either do that in Canada or they got to my application prior to hers.

We are just waiting for them to approve her application now and then everything is good to go. Hoping its done before February blizzard season. Saskatchewan can get really frigid. I wanted to mention I considered going for a temp resident visa again but I can't see how they would approve it. From what I've been told basically there's two questions

Temporary resident visa
- Will you return to your home country at the end of your stay? Probably hard to argue if we've applied for sponsorship and have intent to live in Canada.

Sponsorship
- Is the relation legitimate and is the person who they say they are? Should be good to go here... but again, very lengthy process.

When its all complete I have documented the process very well and all I can say is start taking pictures! Que necessitas ayuda con esa proceseo escriblme!

Jennjj I'm having the same issues as you, I had sent the same information as you and it arrived in their office June 17 and I have yet to hear anything back yet. I'm remaining hopeful that maybe this month we will hear something.
