Spousal Sponsorship applicant - In limbo

Posting on behalf of my friend.

Application type: Spousal Sponsorship
Applicant: Citizen of India currently residing in USA on a visitor visa since almost 6 months
Applied: 2017, July 31st.
Sponsor: In Canada working full time (B.C.)

Updates as of GCMS notes update on May 25th:
Medical = Passed, Eligibility: Recommended Passed, Criminality = Passed AND Security = NOT started.

Checking through forum got to know that applicants applied in 2017,August and September already receiving PPR's but not sure what's going on with this application.

Options we know: To put up a MP Inquiry if at all we don't hear anything after 12 months of processing times ( which is end of this month) OR submit a web inquiry which is month time to process.

Checking through email (all folders) everyday if in case IRCC requests any additional but NO requests.

Question: Could anyone relate to this situation and post thoughts and suggestions what are other options we have ?

The last phase of the sponsorship processing consist of 3 main steps;

1. Review of eligibility
2. Background Check
3. Passport Request

When you check your Application Status in your online account.........what's the message for Review of Eligibility.....(1) or (2)....below;

1.) Review of eligibility: "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility."
2.) Review of eligibility: "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements"

When you check your Application Status in your online account.....what's the message for Background Check....(1) or (2).....below;

1.) Background Check: “Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.”
2.) Background Check: “We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information.“

I would expect the message for Review of Eligibility will be (2) and if message for Background Check not (2).....will advice you be patient as it may change to (2) soon.....you need patience, as you are 2 weeks away from 12months processing timeline......sponsorship applications is processed on a case basis and depends on the visa office.......will advice that you give IRCC 2weeks.......if nothing, them send an email to the Visa Office processing your application.

Hi Wakki. Maybe you know whats the difference between these two statuses under review of eligibility “Your application is in progress” and “We are reviewing your eligibility”? I got this status “We are reviewing whether you meet eligibility requirements” right after Sponsors approval in March and ever since then this status remains the same. Does it actually mean anything? Thank you.

The Review of Eligibility Status..“We are reviewing whether you meet eligibility requirements”.......means IRCC has started reviewing your application documents and relationship/marriage for genuineness, PA is not inadmissible and PA case meets the criteria and requirements to be eligible to be granted PR….. Eligibility is the most important part of the application process.

Review Eligibility and Background Check takes awhile to complete…..and after the Status changes from “Your application is in progress”, it will remain until your final approval and landing.
