Spousal sponsorship and proof of citizenship of my child

Hi, I'm a naturalized Canadian citizen currently living outside Canada for past 10 yrs.
I have a wife with Korean citizenship and a 3 year-old son who was born in Korea.
We're planning to move permanently to Canada around this Nov so not much time left.

After doing some research, I realized I need to prepare the spousal sponsorship for my wife
and the proof of Canadian citizenship for my son at the same time.

I thought getting the proof of Canadian citizenship was much easier and faster so i visited a near embassy and submitted all the documents for that yesterday.
They said it will take about 5 to 6 months to be approved.
Then i came back to the sponsorship and found out about #3 of PART B on the checklist IMM5533 which says,

"Do you (the sponsor) and the person you are sponsoring have a child together who may have a claim to Canadian citizenship? YES
If you answered "Yes" to the question above: Please attach a copy of each child's Canadian passport or proof of application for a proof of
citizenship with your application, to help IRCC confirm that your child does not require immigrant processing."

So my questions is..
1. Is the proof of citizenship for my son really required for the spousal sponsorship application?
2. If yes, does this mean I've to wait for the next 5 or 6 months to get the proof of citizenship before sending application for the spousal sponsorship?
Is there a way for the both applications being processed simultaneously?
I'm thinking about submitting the official receipt instead(which i received for paying proof of citizenship app), along with a letter explaining the current situation.

Thank you in advance.

Hi

If you read the requirement again, it states proof of application for a proof of citizenship. The receipt should suffice as proof you have applied for the Certificate of Citizenship.

Note that your child will require a Canadian passport to travel to Canada. As a Canadian citizen, he doesn't qualify for an eTA.

Hi, we also are in a similar situation and have the same question.

If anybody can confirm (maybe the original poster chrislee815 ) that indeed the receipt of payment for the application for proof of citizenshio of our children can be used as the "proof of application for a proof of citizenship" mentioned on the document checklist.

Thanks!

Dear All,

I'm facing the same issue as you and would like to know how you did the application for your spouse while your children proof of citizenship applications are in processing?

Thank you so much!

Best regards,
