Hello everyone,
I have a question for spousal sponsorship, and it's a bit confusing so bear with me! But I need HELP!
I am getting married to my fiance in just over a month. Both of us are originally Egyptian and both of us hold Egyptian passports. However, both of us also have dual nationality. My fiance is Egyptian-Canadian, and so he will be sponsoring me to move to Canada when we are married.
I have a Bahraini passport aside from the Egyptian one - and I generally tend to use the Bahraini one to travel because it is a bit easier to apply for visas and things most of the time. Anyway, at the moment, I am living in the UK as a student, and I will be living in the UK hopefully until I receive my PR approval; which (according to the published processing times) coincides with the completion of my course. My UK student visa is on my Bahraini passport. We intend to get married in Egypt and after that will be applying for my sponsorship through the London visa office. Within my immigration papers, I have included civil identity documents and travel documents from both countries. That being said, we will be getting married in Egypt; as two Egyptian nationals.
Assuming that everything goes smoothly with the spousal application and our relationship is approved to be genuine and continuing (that's another story!), and I reach the stage where I get the PR and visa to live in Canada with my husband; would I be getting the visa on the Egyptian or the Bahraini passport? I generally tend to travel using my Bahraini passport not the Egyptian one. However, as I am getting married as an Egyptian and to an Egyptian-Canadian national, would I have to receive the visa on my Egyptian passport or would I still be able to use my Bahraini one as I travel in and out of Canada? I am concerned that my dual-citizenship situation may complicate both the application and my travels in future!
Thanks a lot for your help/advice!
