Hi all,
I'm a little confused about timelines so any help would be greatly appreciated.
We applied for me to sponsor my husband from DR, it was received end of Nov 2017, he did his medical & passed in early Feb 2018. We were asked to upload police check in Feb, uploaded it early Mar 2018. We have had no updates since except to say that they sent his application to Mexico for further processing. I have heard varying things about what happens next... Can anyone shed some light? We are anxious & just wish we knew what was going on.
Thanks in advance

We went from july to march with NO communication then we got passport request. No one can say definitiely. Recently ive seen 5 months to a year (we took a year and 5 days)

They may ask for more info or not. You can always email mexico an ask for an update or order your notes

Thank you. I was just wondering since friends I know who have done this have had a passport request within weeks of the application being sent there and then gotten their passport back within a week or two. Then it was done. It just seems they are passing them so much faster now when there are no issues and with ours we have had no issues and he passed everything.

On our side, my husband is from Honduras, our file was treated in Mexico as well.

We sent the application March 27, 2017.

Medical was done upfront in December 2016 (now you can’t do that anymore apparently).

April 25, 2017 we were asked to send police certificate.

File was transfert May 24, 2017 to México and the process started June 5, 2017 in Mexico.

We went from May 24, 2017 to October 25 without any news. On October 25 in the morning we received the pre arrival services letter and in the afternoon we received passport request.

Passport was sent to Mexico October 26 and back on November 6. And my husband arrived here in Quebec on November 10.

A little less than 8 months. We had no complications no interview no extra proofs asked, it went well.

Hi
I applied in Dec 2016 and got our interview Oct 2017. Had to redo medicals however as it was sent upfront before the new applications, that was the process.
The application changed as we sent his so we fell under the new timeline. It took 10 mths between sendind the app and getting approved at the interview. Overall went well.

He got his PR in Dec 2017 after redoing medicals. :-)

For the photos, i discovered also that dominican passport sizes are smaller than canadian passport size. I went with my husband prior to his interview and got them redone at a much larger size.
We brought both the Dominican passport size and the one immigration suggest is the canadian passport size, the one i got resize were right and the other ones rejected.. make sure to measure the pics.

Never heard of many getting PR within weeks. That is however more of a possible visitor visa scenario.

The shortest PR i saw took at least 5 months more or less.

I agree with you. Weeks is unheard of for a pr. Most of us have easy cases and still took a long time. We applied march 1 2017 and march 5 2018 we got ppr. Medicals and everything was done upfront. My husband was in canada during the whole process. We even got pregnant and had a baby while waiting lol. We are in the dominican right now and my husband and stepson are landing tomorrow

Thanks, all our photos were taken in DR but printed from email here in Canada by a Visa photographer so the sizes were all correct

Thanks for the info. We canceled a visit because we were hoping it would go faster. Looks like it may be longer. My friend used a lawyer and was pregnant so may be why it only took 5-6 months. Just wish there was a little more communication with timelines.

Pregnancy has no bearing on application and lawyers are a waste of time. No two apps are the same and mexico is one of the slowest centers

Hi,
Any updates on your progress? Sent in my application and they received it in Mississauga June 1. Praying that my husband can join me here

We have had no updates on our website link since March, but through checking his application online via another portal we found out México office started processing his application April 19th. Still waiting, sadly. I haven't seen him in 8 months so we miss each other. They received our application Nov 29th 2017 so hopefully we will hear from them soon
