You haven't really provided any information for people to help. On what basis did you apply for an OWP? What country?

hi! i got an email about my extension as a temp resident visa, since I applied for a spousal sponsorship and open work permit under canada class.
I callled up immigration, to confirm if this is my working permit too and they told me it is. I asked if It is the document to be presented to employers and they said I should wait or the copy of the WORK permit through mail.
What can I do after this, can I apply for a job even if I havent got it? What do I need to present to my employers.

Pls advise me...Thanks in advance....

Hi,

I am an international student, inquiring about SOWP for my wife. My student visa expires on June 6, 2019, after which I will be applying for Post-graduation work permit (which will be allotted for 3 yrs since I did a post-graduate program for 20 months). Question is, given the duration left for my visa (3 months), will be cause a hindrance to my wife's SOWP visa approval? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

No.

You need a skilled job with 3 payslips for your wife to qualify for an OWP based on your PGWP.

Thank you for your quick response!

Well I am still in my program which completes in May 2019, I will only start working post that. The plan is to get her visa before completing the program, however study permit ends in June 2019.

Is it right to apply for her SOWP while I have only 3 months study permit left? Will it be a negative for CIC to approve her SOWP?

She doesn't qualify for an extension. You need a skilled job and to be applying for your PGWP or already have the PGWP in order for her to apply for an extension.

Given the timeline, she will likely have to apply to change her status to visitor.

Thanks again!

Sorry if it is not clear, my student permit allows of her SOWP. The question is whether my limited visa duration will be issue in her approval of SOWP. Sorry if this is confusing.

Ah, I thought your wife already had an OWP and was looking to extend

IRCC will not issue a work permit when your study permit expires so soon.

Also spouses of international students aren't guaranteed SOWP. The process takes months so there would be no point in applying. You would end up being refused due to the short time period.

Hey,

I very much appreciate your insights.

For now, what is the best strategy to go forward? or waiting it out would be best?

Thanks!

PS: We already tried with visitor visa which was rejected on the basis of purpose of visit.

Did you order GCMS notes for the TRV refusal?

The only options at this point are to wait and try for an OWP once you have a PGWP and a skilled job or try for a TRV again.

Thanks again for your reply!

We have not ordered GCMS notes. Do you suggest we doing that?
