Hi,

So I am starting this process for my wife. Reading the checklist we have

14. Police Certificates and Clearances
15. Proof of Medical Examination

We were wondering if these are a MUST or we can send the application without them and wait for CIC to require them at a future date.

If this helps we are from Mexico and submitting an outland application.

As far as I know the medicals have to be done in advance for outland applications. It should be on your document checklist for your country. Now with the police certificates I have have not sent mine in yet and I've researched that it seems to be fine to do this as CIC will probably just you request you send them, however it is probably more recommeded that you send them in with the application so as it won't delay your application.

From what I've learned on here is that the medicals and police certificate applications should be the last things you acquire for your application, then when you get them, send off the application right away.

Yeah it is stated but reading the forums I can see that you can send them after everything is fine. It makes no sense to send a medical/police if you don't even know you are approved as a sponsor or worse, that the validity of those checks expires before they are of any use.

I don't care about "delays" as long as everything is fine. I am patient.

Thanks anyway ;)

It will also completely depend on the officer looking at the application. Some of them will return them to you as incomplete if you don't have them in your original application. Others will look the other way (even though it should be there) and they will be requested at a later date. (Also it potentially delays your application by at least 1 month of not 2 or more.

I understand. So there is no rule of thumb on this matter. From my experience in CEC I thought it was safer and easier to send them when CIC requested them as with the file number you just send the documents and forget aout it, while with no file number you have to pick them up and send them personally to CIC. Something to think about, really....

As I mention I don't care about delays. We are in no rush.

Thanks a lot for this input!
