Hi.
Im from Pakistan and my wife is Canadian citizen, we are about to apply for the immigration, I want to know does education is an important requirement in my case?( husband wife case) currently im Intermediate student in Pakistan ( 12th grade ) and I have done job after that, and still doing it. so if I apply for immigration and show my 12 grade studies and my job reference letter, is it enough or is there any education requirement in spousal case like its required in student visa or skilled visa?
please let me know ASAP.
thanks.

I don't think there is an education requirement for Spouse. They do ask you about your educational background, but i don't think that is something that makes or breaks an application. Maybe more experienced members can shed some more light.

good luck

Education is not a requirement. Showing that you and your wife will be able to support yourselves in Canada is important, and education can be taken into account for that, but job history is probably more important. Your wife's job history will be more important than yours, because you'll have to find a new job when you move to Canada but if she's already working in Canada, that won't change when you move up.

Education is looked at when compatibility is assessed. For example if you had a level 12 or less and your spouse had a PHd, then compatibility would become an issue.

not necessarily... it depends on many other factors. If your family doesn't know about your marriage, and there is a big difference between the two of you ( age, education, etc), then it will raise red flag to CIC.

If you have a different education level, (but not very big), but your families agree to the wedding, you had everything according to tradition, same background, etc, then I don't think it will be a problem. Also because - you have been working after your education, and your qualifications there are important. What CIC is interested in is assessing if your marriage is genuine, so it's different factors that will be taken into considerations. You are not applying through the skilled workers scheme, so education is not the only thing being looked at.
Good luck,
Sweden

thanks for the reply.
our wedding is 100% genuine, we have pictures from all the wedding ceremonies, we have pics of our honeymoon, my wife stayed with me for 7 months, our whole family was present at the time of wedding, and on top of that we are expecting out first baby, so I think its more than enough proof for cic..don't u think?
and also im 2 years elder than my wife and she is my cousin, so what do u think does education has any weightage in my case?

It's always difficult to know, but I don't see any reason to worry in your case, as it seems to be a pretty standard relationship.... you had all the weddings ceremonies, with family, and support from your family, you stayed together for 7 months, and a baby on the way - i really see no reason to worry. What CIC is concerned is marriage that are not in the tradition where people get married because of the possibility of having a visa. It doesn't seem to be your case, so you should be fine! just keep track of communication with your wife, so if/when CIC asks for more proofs, you already have them. They have your story up to the day you submitted the application, and after that, keep track of what you do for your family ( purchases for the future baby, arrangements, ceremonies with your wife, daily communication if you are apart etc). I don't see a reason to worry about your education - if you have been working after completing grade 12, and are able to support your family, it should be fine.

I don't mean to be nosy, but your wife is at least 18, right? I only ask because grade 12 is usually 17-18 in Canada and if you're two years older, she would be very young.

Of course, that's how it is in Canada. I'm very ignorant about education in Pakistan.

Other than potentially your answer to 'amikety's concern, I don't see any exceptional need for 'legal advice'. Being married to your cousin is legal in many of the United States (if that was fall247's concern). If you've got all the photo's from all those events, I'm sure you are "good" to go.

I think you are good to go, the only thing I would worry about is your wife staying out of Canada for too long.

Okay, I apologize for being nosy. It sounded to me like you were currently a grade 12 student. Sorry :)
