Hello members, Very happy about this thread. Kindly please let me know the best travel option for a mother and 2 kids ( One : 3.6 Years , Second : 1.5 Years).

Does sumone know how much would I be paying for the children. I spoke to my travel agent and she didn't sound to sure. I would like separate seats for my kids.

I am glad people are benefiting from this thread and i agree with Mrs Sam,

direct flight of PIA is only 15hrs long, compared to other connecting flights which consist of 21-29hrs of travel and this does not include 3-4 hours airport time.

Alhamdulillah By the grace of God and after lots of prayers from a lot of people, I received PPR Today at 1.30 PM and submitted my passport at 2.30 pm at VAC Karachi, I paid 1550 Rs and sent two pics (white background) 1 passport copy and 1 letter from cic (PPR with appendix A) and original passport.

Everyone who prayed for me , I would like to thank you all and plz remember me in your prayers

1- IS PIA RELIABLE TO TRAVEL FROM (Sorry to have ask this question... But have heard and seen too many problems with their flights being cancelled)?

2- Also how much luggage do they allow ( NOT THE CARRY ON)? If that is the case then her immigration will be processed at Toronto airport (Pearson). Any Idea how long will immigration process would take... Cause the destination will be Calgary. And they will have to take another flight to get here? Also I am guessing She will have to check out their luggage and then re-submit to most likely Air Canada or Westjet etc, depending on which flight she they might take?

3- ALSO AS PER FIRST TIME TRAVELERS AND IMMIGRANTS.. Does anyone know about CBSA allowance for tax free luggage and any good idea for importing the luggage (Like sea shipping or by air)?

1.yes PIA is a reliable airlines to travel with, usually if one airline flight is cancelled, most will be cancelled. I work for air canada, and our flights get cancelled too, so it's not just PIA. But you always wanna remeber, better safe then sorry. If they company is making a desison to cancel a flight IT'S FOR YOUR BENEFITS. they are loosing money in doing so !

2. I would recommend that you check how much weight you're allowed to carry with they connecting flight from toronto to calgary. because domestic flights always have more weight restriction than international. and you don't want you wife to have to worry about paying $100 or more per suitcase if it is over their weight allowance. They WILL NOT waive this fee if you are connecting from a different airlines. Also if you are paying overweight for PIA, you will have to REPAY the connecting airlines, because they will also not accept that. I have seen soo many passengers having to pay overweight fees twice because they didnt check all the weight requirements for the different airlines. it's very sad really. Rule of thumb is with children most agents are kinder with carry-on baggage, but I would suggest to have very limited carry-on baggage, even if you can have none, that would be ideal for a mother and two children. Because she will most probably be using a stroller, and that will already be hard for her to handle with connecting flights. And yes she will need to take her luggage and recheck it in with the airlines she is traveling with. At YYZ there are porters available if she needs help. I believe it's $10 for 3 suitcases. Immigration times varies on how busy the day is.

yes I think PIA is safe,,only flight cancellation problem and its due to some reason and PIA dont cancel there flight every day...but if she is traveling 1st time with 2 small kids then try to find out any airline which comes directly from any Arab country to Calgary coz stop over of 3 hour is better for rather then doing immigration and take luggage and re booking for local flight and take another flight within 3 hour.

luggage is almost standard for every one 2 piece 23 kg weight each for adult and child and for infant one piece of 23 kg .

for 1st time immigrant there is no limit u can caryy things as much as u want tax free,,just make sure make B4 form fill and list of good to accopmany and list to follow good..i dont think its good idea for shipping furniture or any stuff u can find these things in canada

Hi,

Well i have compared a lot of data from previous members and current members who have got their PPR, and i came to conclusion that it takes between 5 to 25 days normally (and some rare times 45 days to get Decision made after re-med and same for PPR after Decision Made.
May Allah helps us all and unite us with our Loved ones as soon as possible.

Hi, So i got very lost multiple times when i was going to VAC, i tried Google map and it was baddd....

Everybody who lives in Karachi knows the way to PC hotel, so i made a map from PC hotel To VAC
to simplify the way to VAC

GuideLines:
1. Take left from PC if you are coming from Club Road
2. Go to the flyover of Punjab Colony straight
3. Cross two signals and you will see the Gizri Flyover
4. Avoid taking The flyover and take the side road
5. now take right under the flyover and park your car there as you will see Behria Complex building right in front of you.

Hope it helps you and everyone who wants to go there in near future.
