Hi there,

if I am on closed work permit in Canada and my husband is Canadian, can he sponsor me if he has pending charges that will definitely be shown up when they conduct his background check?
Thanks in advance!
Depends on what those pending charges are.

Also you appear to have been trying to extend your stay in Canada without other options so that may also lead to increased scrutiny about the marriage.

That’s absolutely not true. I don’t know why people judge without knowing the person situation.

In October you posted about trying to extend your stay with no mention of a partner. Sadly many people have exhausted all their options to remain in Canada which has lead to many marriages for immigration purposes. There will be more scrutiny of these applications. Doesn’t mean people will be denied but that IRCC is scrutinizing applications when people are at the end of their WPs.
