Hi..
I am so amazed by the way people here respond with inquiries..this is the reason why I am so brave to write also about mine. I am sponsored by my Canadian bf as common law wife. We have been together over 1 year and we submitted our papers. After 6 mos since April this year 2008 this is what e-cas says:

We received your application for permanent residence on April 23, 2008.

We started processing your application on May 29, 2008.

We received the requested information on September 18, 2008. Thank you for providing the information.

We transferred your application to the local CIC office on October 23, 2008. The local CIC office may contact you.

The local CIC office received your application for permanent residence from the Case Processing Centre on November 4, 2008. The local CIC office will now continue to process the application.

My problem is our papers are over 6 mos the time line for sponsorship and my husband's application to sponsor is transferred also in the local office.I have been hoping I will be given a work permit as I attached the application forms once the sponsorship is approved.Do you think he will be refused as a sponsor? When I called the call center cic.. they said it will take 24 mos from October 24 6 mos after we submitted our papers to know if he is eligible to sponsor or now..why is this so? I thought the first stage approval is 6 to 8 mos..well.. now I don't know what to think anymore...

Thanks a lot and if anybody has a kind heart to reply pls I appreciate it very much..and by the way, I was out of status already even before she sponsored me... thanks again..

You can go to the local CIC office and ask about what is going on with your case. You can try to call them too but I know the one where I live doesn't answer the phone at all, you have to physically go there and ask.

Oh thanks for the quick reply Leon... I was just wondering really coz my daughter who is my dependent but is outside the country was asked to submit additional requirements such as birth certificate , police clearance and medical even though I did not include her yet as accompanying. It made me think though that I have hope my application is ok since she was asked to do this stuff.. I am writing a letter to our MP though..but still this makes me sad as I really want to work.
