I don't think that having a representative makes the process longer. How @JulianaAndrew said each case is different. I knew that someone who applied this year and the process took just 2 months, even having an interview. There is another couple who applied on sept 2016 and got DM with passport request on Dec 2016.

We have an immigration lawyer, for the moment everything seems to be falling into place nicely, but what I don't like is that we don't have access to MyCic and check how goes the process. If the medical exam passed, if we need or not an interview, if they started to process or not the background check. If you know about a phone number where I can call and know all the information above through an automatized call would be helpful for me.

This is my timeline:
May 13 - App sent
May 16 - App received (ECAS says June 1 because CPC Mississauga had problems with app received in the middle of May)
July 1 - AOR 1
July 10 - Schedule A requested
July 13 - Sponsor Approval
July 14 - Schedule A received
July 20 - Schedule A replacement
July 26 - Schedule A received
August 18 - App transferred
August 22 - AOR 2
August 23 - background verification certificate, escritura de matrimonio and 4 photographs request
August 24 - Background in process with Omnitempus
August 25 - Escritura de matrimonio and photos received
August 29 - Background certificate received

Since then I'm waiting for DM but I don't know how long is gonna take to get it, i keep positive but I've been feeling frustrated because I would like to have it know. ;)
Medical request?

Yes, it's a lawyer.. we didn't want to have one but after having the app ready before December and watching the changes in January we didn't want it stressing us out again. Also because we didn't know if all the info and documents we had were enough and correct. I don't know if it delays the process but we are on it now.
Hi, having a lawyer doesnt delay the process, maybe i was not clear with my comment but i was talking in the sense that all correapondence is given to the representative first (lawyer, consultant) and the he or she transmit the info to you, you take action and then you pass the info to the rep( again) and then he pass it to CIC, while if you make all yourself you make things quicker. For us just an example, we got married on december 28th, on january 9th our app headed mississauga, all things that embassy asked us, as we received the info directly, it was done right away. Ex. Meds and police certs etc. It was in that sense that i was talking about. Sorry folks if i didnt do my self clear ;)

I think it delays the process in the sense that there's going to be an extra channel of communication. Also, I doubt the lawyer would make it his top priority, so he could take his time doing this. However, the delay wouldn't be big, in my opinion. Do you know why you needed an interview? Usually this does delay the process a bit. Also, your case may not be the most straight forward one, so that can be another reason too.

Do any of you have taken the medical exam in Medellin? I'm from Pereira, so that's the place I would be more comfortable going to.

I was married once, first red flag, the second one, same sex marriage and as i had a daughter they doubt that we were really a same sex couple so i sent all the info about my file on assisted procreation clinic. We got married and even though we had met since 5 years ago, i made the rookie mistake of sending lots of pics to our trip to ny and the marriage than sending photos of different timelines. They had doubts and i dont blame them. Anyways i even travel to bogota with her to be by her side on the interview but only her was allowed to get in. Fortunately the agent was polite and all the questions were satisfying, she showed tons of proves also, lots of conversations, pictures, itineraries of all our trips and they were convinced due also to the sense that she's very close to my daughter. They told her they were convinced and gave her the pappers to make her meds are ask for her background

@edelahozd Yep, that would have been why the interview and why the process is taking a bit, in my opinion. I hope I'm not called for an interview, as my case is really straight forward. My wife's parents flew from Canada to attend the wedding, and spend a week here in Colombia, getting to know me more and my family. We had been in a relationship for 14 months when we got married, and everyone knows about our relationship. I'm 23 and she's 22. First marriage for both, no previous common-law partners either. We provided 20 photos from the two times she's visited me, we've spent a total of 2 months living together at my parents' house here in Colombia. The wedding, reception, road trips, dinners outside, and more. Should be fine, I don't see why they would need an interview for it.

My lawyer when receives an email from immigration, he forwards it directly to us in the same day explaining what they need. We just receive emails from immigration. When I needed to send some documents to CPC, I had to send it first to the lawyer because I had some problems with the currier to do it straight to Mississauga. But once the lawyer received them, in the same day he sent all the information to CPC. I'm having a good experience with the lawyer.

I'm from medellin and got it here.
Good for you, and about the lawyer :)
Would you please tell me how the process is in Medellin? There's just one doctor who does it. I have been doing some research, but I do want to know how it is. Also, I really don't want to get naked in front of him or anyone, so it would be nice if you can tell me if he does that. I assume he does e-medical, from what I read on his website.
