Hi All

I recently applied for a Canadian study permit visa. I got refused. Well, if i just sit down I'll sit one year in Saudi Arabia doing nothing since all universities closed admissions. Thus, I am going to try to apply again. From the reasons of refusal was your personal assets and financial status. Well I am a Yemeni Citizen born and raised in Saudi Arabia. My father have been working in Saudi Arabia for 40 years now. In my first application my sponsor was my father. My father's company owner proposed to pay my full fees and provide his company's bank statements. Is it ok if I change it in my new application and make my sponsor be the company owner or this will just make the embassy more confused. Please reply ASAP as I have to apply very soon.

thanks a lot

I'm not quite certain about using your dad's boss as your sponsor because you two aren't related. All I can advise you is, still consider your parents (both mom and dad, if you want) as sponsors and just get financial support from your dad's boss. If he really insists on giving support, let the company owner provide a bank statement, and a notarized affidavit of support or letter of support stating why he wants to sponsor your studies, and that both he and your dad/parents made an agreement of some sort in giving support while you're in Canada.

Submitting a SOP could also clear out some of the Visa Officer's doubts. On your next application, include your dad's/parents' salary certificate/s, pay slips (to show if they're earning more than their salary - bonuses, allowances, etc.), and any other property under your name or their names to prove home ties and maybe for financial reasons as well.

If you can defer your studies to Winter (January) 2015, that'd be a better option, just in case (I hope not) you're late to reapply.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the reply rcpp. My father's boss gave me a notarized paper and four months of the company's bank statement. He stated in the notarized paper that he is paying for all my tuition and living expenses due to that my father has worked with him for over 30 years and he takes me as a son of his. As well as he assured to the embassy that I won't stay in Canada beyond my studies as I have already visited Canada 3 times (in 2009,2010 and 2013) and never overstayed.
The college already moved my session to september 30th. Oh also in the wire transfer that I transferred to the college it was under the company's name. Do you think that those are strong enough papers?
btw my father's boss is the Company Owner.

That looks fine, I hope that'll suffice. Are you going to consider him as your only sponsor or you will still include your parents/dad?

You can prove that you've already visited Canada thrice to the officer with your passport stamps and previous TRV(s) copies, by submitting a photocopy of all your passports (previous/old and present).

That looks better than deferring to Winter intake. Can your dad's boss submit any proof that he's the owner of the company? So, if any case, the supporting documents like the bank statement, which is under the company's name not the owner (?), won't leave the officer to wonder if the owner really made the transaction for you.

Actually I don't know if I should include my parents as sponsors too? Should I?
Yes Sure, he will provide me with a paper from the government of saudi arabia stating the name of the company and who owns it.
Plus I am going to apply online where can I attach all those extra documents with SOP?

That question is tricky. If they are still considering on supporting you, like for example, on your personal needs while in Canada, that'd be good. The rest (fees and other university expenses) will be shouldered by your dad's boss. (If ever you are still including your dad, do submit copies of his pay slips so the officer could see that he's earning more than his current salary, like bonus and allowance.)

Not sure about it because I applied by paper twice, and haven't tried online yet. But I heard you can merge it into one pdf file with another document (if ever you're submitting any) under the others tab or whatever's the name where you can upload supplementary documents..

Yeah, i recommend applying via paper based because you can include whatever documents you may want to add to strengthen your application. In online, you're only limited to a certain size of data and location in uploading/attaching files.

Thanks bud! I hope you get your visa soon as well :) All the best! Do update us how it goes.
