So, I posted this in the main sponsorship forum, but to be honest, with that many pages, I would have a hard time keeping up with any replies I get, so I'm going to post basically same thing but in my own little topic.
How long does it usually take for a sponsor to get approved? I sent in my application July of 2014, and my husband and I haven't heard anything back about the sponsor approval or anything. My application is still getting worked on since I was emailed asking to send in a immigration medical. I was just wondering if anyone else has had to wait a long time to hear anything about the actual sponsorship, or will I hear back whenever they feel the need to let me know?
If I go online to check the process it just says they received my application in late July of 2014. Other than that, it hasn't been updated. I've never received a piece of paper in the mail letting me know they've started my application or anything. The only thing I have been emailed was the request for my medical. Is this typical? Has this happened to anyone else? Can it be that they're not updating my file online but they're actually working on my case and just never let me know they started the process yet?
Any time I bring up how long it takes to see if a sponsor is accepted, people always tell me it's strange that it's been almost 2 years and I haven't heard anything.

I know inland applications generally take quite a long time, so 2 years is definitely not out of the question.

My wife applied outland, so our situation is probably a little different, but when we received direct updates, such as sponsorship approval, they were just emailed to us. The email contained a PDF letter stating that the sponsorship had been approved, and that her PR application had been sent to Ottawa for processing. If you provided an email address, they'll likely email you similarly. The only time they'll send a physical letter is if you didn't provide an email address, as far as I know.

My husband is my sponsor and he said he hasn't received anything in his email or junk folder..would this be worth a phone call to the immigration help desk place?

Someone told me to check HIS account on ECAS, which I didn't even know he had one. I thought it was all under my name and info, silly me lol. But it's been checked and they started processing his sponsorship application back in March of 2015. So, hopefully this is all a good sign, and since they asked me for an immigration medical, hopefully that means we're closer to finishing his part, and starting mine!

I would say that you should hear something soon. I am a Sep. 2014 applicant and I landed a week ago (but I did my medical upfront, so I guess this made my case processed quicker)

If you want to see the progress on your file, you can also ask for GCSM notes. It takes about a month to receive those, but it will be indicated if any letter has been sent to you (sometimes the letters just don't reach the applicant for whatever reasons)
