Be very grateful you realized this before moving here. Especially since you were aiming for a $10-$11 9-5 job. You can't have a decent life with that sort of income, especially if she had no plans to work. Would be living in poverty basically....

very true ! I have a good friend who had to fight for 5 years to be here. He now works 3 part time jobs ! We kid around a lot because he knows my situation very well. ""Welcome to Canada"" He laughs and says...I wish I had known that Canada oversells itself, but still glad to be here.

Lesson learned: if you think the grass is greener on the other side, fertilize your own first !

Thank you, I could of not said it better myself! Just she is threatening me with immigration and all. I just want to fwd them the emails. I just want this to be over already and 12 months omg.

I can't believe all of this. I'll look more into this link.

Once you talk to a lawyer and start the process. The 12 month separation can start from the day after your wedding if you have never lived together. My ex-husband and I never lived together and we were divorced a year plus 1 day after we were married.

Good luck

Mevakesh - I get over $14.50 per hour after taxes, 401k, dental, full medical paid. I only pay 5% they pay 95% if it's in the hospital they pay everything! I get dental 100% so yeah plus living in a top rich country, plus on top of it, it's the safest in the world one of the safest!

gsize - Thank you! I wanted to give this to immigration in her city so if she ever remarried again to someone else who has money or something, it would save them a lot of work and pain! I lived in Canada for 2 years and economy there is pretty much dead in the city she lives in and from what I have seen. And food prices are more then here! And the pay profits is less then 50%.

Frankinto - Alright so one year it is. I'll have to wait. This is going to suck! I can just imagine the problems for 1 year. No minimum wages are not the best. Here it is.

Malawi - We never lived together!

Thank you all!

How long have you guys been together for before you guys got married? None of these issues ever came up while you guys were dating?

10 months.

Dating, I told her to come to my country so we can see how it is for 6 months to 2 years. I was hoping she would love our system here cause it's way better then Canadian and pays a lot more. But she got use to the north american life style.

I don't get your problem. You like it there. You don't like Canada. And you don't like your wife anymore. So file for divorce, burn your immigration app, and go on with life. Case closed.

^ Exactly. There wasn't even a case to begin with...

Move on, man. Forget that bitch.

Exactly. It doesn't sound like there is any house, car, kids, pets, shared assets, bank accounts etc etc that would need to get fought over in a courtroom. Just file for divorce and go your separate ways in your respective countries. Serve her the papers and get her to sign them. If she doesn't want to sign to make your life difficult, as others said just wait a year and you'll be separated anyways. After this life lesson, I don't think you'll want to be getting married again within the next year anyways!

Your marriage is so new you can get it annulled.... Just like it never happened.

Cheers!

I feel so sorry for you. If the both of you truly meant to follow you marriage vow, money shouldn't be an issue but I guess your wife only married you for your money then go get a divorce. Spare yourself from her greed and save your dream of a church wedding to the right woman. Marriage is only for those people who truly love each other and not for those who would just like to try to work out a relationship.

And by the way, you can't support another person for a $10.50 salary before tax unless you work 3 jobs.

Good luck to you buddy! And prayers do make miracles!

just one question:
You said
""Marriage is only for those people who truly love each other and not for those who would just like to try to work out a relationship.""

then why is the divorce rate about 60% in North America ? ???

this is just my point of view.....

- as husband and wife, you should help each other in processing this immigration part.
and you should know that to sponsor a spouse, it cost CAD$1,040, and could go up if you hire consultant. - who will pay for this?

- if you don't want to go to canada, then both of you should consider to settle in your country since as what you've mention, its better there...

- lastly, if the problem is not resolve, then there is an option called - DIVORCE
