Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents 2015 - Updates

**As of January 19, 2015, the intake threshold of 5000 applications in this category was met. No new parent and grandparent sponsorship applications will be accepted until further notice.**

I just saw it online & checked CIC's website, it shows:

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has now received 5,000 complete applications and the new intake into the PGP program will again pause until next year. The government will continue to move forward with the Action Plan for Faster Family Reunification by reducing backlogs, improving processing times and reuniting families more quickly. For those who wish to bring their families to Canada, the Super Visa still remains a quick and easy way to reunite parents and grandparents with their loved ones.

I believe they made this announcement on Friday Jan 16 so I was curious about the "Jan 19" statement.

Consensus seems to be the 5000 apps were actually done by Jan 5, so if your credit card hasn't been charged yet you should prepare for possibility you didn't make the cap and will need to try again next year.

I am sorry to bother you with this message. I can see from your timelinethat your application was received on 5th of Jan 2015. May i know if you got any further updates? Basically i too submitted application for my parents but i received the whole package today saying the quota was full.

Based on what we've seen on this forum, only applications received on the morning of January 5th were accepted. If your package arrived in the afternoon - then it was too late to make the cap.
