Hi there,

I am from Hong Kong. My partner and I have been together for almost 9 years. I arrived Vancouver on 24 December 2008 with traveling visa and we married on 16 January 2009. We have some below questions when we fill-in the application form (we haven't employ any consultant or agent and will do the apply by ourselves).

1. We visit each other and travelled together in those years as we lived different country. There are a bunch of photos for those trips. Is it aright if I only print 1-2 of our pictures for each trip? OR Should I include the pictures for ALL trip (sometimes we didn't take picture though)

2. We also have a bunch of phone bills, again, should we enclosed all phone bills or simply include some within each year that shows our interaction are continuing?

3. In this forum, i found some people copy their email and letters as a proof to show the relationship is continuing, I am wondering whether we only copy the envelope which shows the receiver and sender name, address with postal date instead of the content of the letter? can we print the inbox with subject line and dates instead of the content in our emails? Again, can we extract some copies of letters and emails for each year instead of presenting them ALL?

4. I had a medical check-up a couple weeks ago, yet, we still not yet to submit the application and we hope we can submit it at the end of February. Is it a problem if my medical report is received by the immigration while they still not yet get my application?

5. I sent the fingerprints to the RCMP yesterday and am waiting they send back the fingerprint forms to me. As long as I am from Hong Kong and am required to get a police Cert of No Criminal conviction and enclose the cert. in my application. However, I checked with Hong Kong Police, I was told that I have to provide a copy of letter from Immigration Authority which contains my name and clearly indicates that the production of the Cert. is required. What I get is the blank form and I write my name on it. Then they said I need to indicate the reference no. of my application, otherwise, they won't do the check.

When the checked is completed, they will send the Cert. to the Immigration instead of to me even they are required to do so. I told them my application will be rejected if I haven't enclose the Cert. They said I will get the letter, issue by the Immigration, with stating the rejecting reason of my application. Then it is a proof for my requested and they will do the check at that time and sent the cert to the immigration. What a ridiculous!

-> will my application be rejected as they find the police cert. is sent separately? How can the immigration to relocate my Cert. if I haven't a reference no. of my application? I am desperate.

-> any advise to me?

6. I didn't tell my family about the relationship with my partner because: 1. my family is very traditional and conservative. 2. I knew my partner via chat room and people think it is creepy 3. my partner is older than me 24 years. Will it be okay if there is no letter from my family to proof our relationship is genuine? My close friends ignored me when I told what kind of relationship i am in. Since then, I zipped my mouth and wasn't tell any friend about the relationship with my partner.

My partner's family (also Chinese) doesn't accept us even they know our relationship. I even helped them to arrange a trip when they came to Hong Kong. Now, my partner's sister lives at the basement in our house. Yet, when my partner told them we plan to marry, their respond were disappointing. As a result, we asked the marriage commisisoner to find 2 witness (the staff in her office) in our marriage ceremony.

Anyway, my question is: my partner's coworker will write letters to indicate our relationship is real as they were our guests at our reception. Is there any format that you can provide so that my partner give them some idea how to write it. If there is a template or sample for our reference, it is fantastic.

That's all the questions that pop up in my mind at the moment. Thanks very much for your help and advise.

1) you dont need to send all photos you can choose some of each visit and write on thier back the names of the persons and thier relationship to u and wether its the first visit or second and so on
2)again you dont have to include all phone bills just some of them that shows a contuining contact between you and him
3)you can do as i did you include a couple of letters with thier envelopes and you can also copy the part of envlope that shows the name and adress again you dont have to include all ur letters if they are too many
4)The medical print out that the doctor fills is sent by him and he will give u another print out that you will include so its no problem if the doctor send it before u send ur application i did the same thing and now my application is approved so dont bother over this
5)i dont know what to tell you abt this except that the chines police look rediculous when they ask you to do that
6)well in the forms you will have to fill there are some questions about wether the family attended the marriage or not and things like that so what you have to do is write a letter and explain to them all i mean why there were no family members in the pics or attended marriage and you need be very much convincing in your anwsers

Thanks for your reply, Med.

For my body-check, the doctor didn't return any medical print out for me after I re-do the optical exam a couple of days later after my 1st check-up as I didn't bring my glasses on the first check-up. The lady, i don't think she is a nurse, did the simple optical exam and amend the record on the form which was fill-in and signed by the doctor. Then, she said they will send the form to the immigrant and asked me to leave.

At the document checklist, I found it said I need to enclose "Proof of medical examination - copy of fees paid receipt".....is this the one you mentioned?

For the police check, I came to the authorize agent to have a finger print. The gentleman at the agent told me that HK Police is Fuss as they will only send the Cert. to the applicant's lawyer or consultant, other than the immigration dept, as long as he knows. Hence, he said I only can try my luck whether they will return the form to me if I submit my application on my own. Sigh.....

I feel stress on filling-in the form and gathering all supporting doc to proof our relationship as required, my partner is busy with her works + not familiar to do these paper works. Hence I have to do it by myself :(
