Total should be $1040

Principal applicant is the person COMING to Canada
Sponsor is the person who resides in Canada or has Canadian Citizenship

You are the principal applicant
She is the sponsor

You are applying to for the right to become a resident of Canada and she is sponsoring (Vouching for you and agreeing to support you when you become a Canadian PR)
