I received my entire application package in 2009 and will be sending out the application this October 2011.
I just heard recently that there is a new application package? So will I have to get rid of this 2009 one and make sure to complete the new updated one? Someone said the old one is still accepted until March 2012 and I wanted to ask someone who knows if that's ok for sure!

I am re-doing all, just to be safe, i am doing it using NITRO Pdf, so its not so bad........

noone knows for sure....the website says like this but we r not CIC...also so far noone complained that his package got returned cuz of completing the old forms....
the new forms r not really new, some r, some r not; even the new ones have more or less the same questions, maybe asked more clearly...since u have the forms since 2009 i would at least verify that the questions r the same...

overall it's up to u, they prefer the new forms....but old or new it's bettet to have them typed and not handwritten

From Operation Bulletin 326: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob326.asp

Previous versions of PR applications forms will continue to be accepted by CIC until March 31, 2012.

I got rid of my old forms when I redid mine, but I *think* one of them was from 2010, so there's likely been an update since 2009 that is probably required.

dream99, to be on the safe side, I personally would redo all the forms with the most recent ones. The plus side to this is if done right (validated) they come with bar codes for the VO to use to scan your information in (if I'm right about their purpose), which may just save some time with the process.

that's true but not all embassies have the bar codes yet, so again it depends from VO to VO; if the embassy is not upgraded with this bar codes, sending the new forms will not change anything i think...Missisauga, Buffalo, and maybe a few others start to use this new technology :)

I hope to submit my applications in 2 weeks time. And with this news about the new format, its really confusing me and making me nervous. Now I am undecided if I should stick to my old forms which is almost done with the filling up or discard it and fill up the new format. Yikes. :(

If some of the information is typed and some is handwritten in, will this be a problem with the bar codes? There's a form I was filling in, and one of the questions about "when was the last date you entered Canada and where" it wasn't allowing me to type into the pdf even though everywhere else wasn't a problem. So if I type all the information and then hand write some do u think the VO will miss the information when they can the bar code not looking thoroughly and missing the fact that some info was written in by hand?

I would like to know this as well! Just like Tink23 said there could be a problem where we can't type in a certain section or maybe just completely forget to fill something in.

In that case, do you guys think it will be acceptable to write a explanation saying something like 'This section wouldn't allow me to type so I had to handwrite' ?

Shoot, I just came back from our wedding in Brazil with all forms filled and signed. Is it worth redoing? That would mean that I need for my wife to mail the signed version back, or maybe scan it. I thought I was one or 2 weeks from mailing the package...we have been working on it for almost 6 months on and off.

If I knew the processing would be faster with the new form, I would not hesitate...Is it only the IMM008 that has changed? I havent look at the rest yet.

What do you all think?

Thanks!

I had the same problem, but I found out that this section only applies for people that are currently living in Canada. Try putting Canada as your current country of residence and you will be able to fill it out, so if your country of residence is not Canada, this does not apply to you. But I find it confusing too. Because it doesn't say that those two questions are connected.
I'll will just put N/A there after I print it of.

I don't know what I should fill in for that because my boyfriend has come to Canada on a visitors visa (he's from Dominican Republic) so I don't know if I should hand write in the date he last entered or what. It says after March 2012 that only new forms can be used and hand written forms won't be accepted after that, so if I write in the information they may not get it if they jsut scan the bar code and use the computer copy of the info... We won't be getting married until July 2012 so there's no way we could use the old forms. Hopefully within a month or two people will have more experience and guidance with regards to the new form...
