From 5289ETOC.asp: "By signing the undertaking, you must make sure the people you sponsor won’t need to ask the government for financial help. If they receive social assistance"
So if the person that is sponsored receives the employment insurance benefits, is this considered social assistance?

Employment Insurance is not Social Assistance.

Social assistance means any benefit, whether money, goods or services, provided to or on behalf of a person by a province under a program of social assistance. It includes assistance for food, shelter, clothing, fuel, utilities, household supplies, personal requirements and health care not provided by public health care.
