Hi,

I would like to know when you are sponsoring your wife and daughter (she is 2 years old) at the same time, do I have to fill each form 2 time ? or just the 1344 2 time ?

Thanks :)

Use the same application, your wife is the principal applicant, your daughter would then be added as dependent. You only need one IMM 1344 form as you are applying to sponsor the application and your daughter is part of the application. The paragraph above the blue validate button on the IMM 1344 says.... I undertake to provide for the basic requirements of the sponsored person (your wife) and his/her family(your daughter) who accompany him/her to Canada.

Thanks for the reply :)

So I have no information to fill regarding my daughter it will be included automatically ? right ?

Theres a spot on the application for dependent children information, your daughter will also have to have a medical exam and chest x-ray. But you will not need any additional/special paperwork for her. also when including the fees it would be $550.00 for PR applicatant, $490.00 RPRF and 150.00 for the dependent child so your total would be $1190.00.

Hi Creampop:

Me and my wife getting PR in may 2010 and go back to INDIA in june 2010. we blessed a baby child in 2011. Now only I come back to CANADA in 25-sep-12 for sponsoring my child. I have not any income during my PR. Is income required for sponsoring for 2 years old child. Plz do the needful.

There is no income requirement for sponsoring your child... the referring section is just about @ the bottom of the page... By the time you get to stage 2 you should have a job and not be on any social assistance, as they will most likely ask how you intend to support your family.

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/page-50.html#docCont

Exception to minimum necessary income

(4) Paragraph (1)(j) does not apply if the sponsored person is
(a) the sponsor's spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and has no dependent children;
(b) the sponsor's spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and has a dependent child who has no dependent children; or
(c) a dependent child of the sponsor who has no dependent children or a person referred to in paragraph 117(1)(g).

Thanks for your help. In fact I am applying from Quebec and the form where you enter information about child etc and resource, while living in Quebec we don't have to provide this. So that is why I am confused about my daughter as there is no place I enter any information about her.

Regarding Fees, I was already confused about it, and your message confused me more. when I read the guide : cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#pay-fee

I see 2 type of fees.

1 : PF :
Sponsor :$75
Principal applicant: $475
Principal applicant under 22 years of age and a dependent child of the sponsor, a child to be adopted or an orphaned family member that is neither married nor in a common-law relationship. : $75

Am I going to pay 75 + 475 +75 ?

2 : RPRF :
Principal applicant (Spouse/common-law partner) : 490

Note: Dependent children are exempt from paying the Right of Permanent Residence fee.

So at stage 2 I have to pay 490 ?

Can you go read the table of fees and tell me what exactly I have to pay ? cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#pay-fee

I'm sorry the fee for your daughter is $75.00 when I paid for my son it was $150.00 cus he fell in different category. Filing from Quebec should make no difference to adding your daughter you still have to fill out the generic application eh? Generic application page 3 under education/language details you add your dependents, your daughter is your wife's dependent and this is where she is added to the application.

Are you a citizen of Canada? And is the daughter your daughter as well? If yes to both, she is a citizen by birth, provided that your parents did not immigrate to Canada as PR as well.

Hmmm still not clear, as re read the Fees table and there are 2 case where my daughter can fall into

1 : Principal applicant under 22 years of age and a dependent child of the sponsor, a child to be adopted or an orphaned family member that is neither married nor in a common-law relationship. 1 $75

2: Family member who is under 22 years and who is not married, engaged or in a common-law relationship $150

I feel like it will be 150 as she is not principal applicant but then she is sponsor child so it can be 75. Why do they make it so complicated :S

Is there any number i can call to confirm before I apply, don't want to waste time if I send wrong amount.

Also It say that paying all fees all together even the second step (490) can accelerate the procedure :

Note. We strongly recommend paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee along with your processing fees. By doing so, it will reduce the processing time of your application.

But in my case as I have to wait between 2 steps as I need to get Quebec selection certificate so will it matter ? as I am short on money these days, and would like to pay step 2 later. But if it do make difference I ll do my possible to pay all at once, what do you say ?

For generic Form you are talking about step 2 after sponsor ? that step where my wife will fill all Forms after getting sponsor letter ? becasue at sponsor level I don't see anywhere I enter my daughter. except in form 5440 where they ask for child names but don't ask much more info.

Thanks for all your help, it is much appreciated :)

I asked my husband, he said it's 150.00 for your daughter, he calculated our fees and paid it but I knew it was 150.00 for him. If by chance you pay the wrong amount they will give you the difference back but my husband is usually right. (Don't ever tell him I said that!) Of course you can call them to verify it, if you have the time it can take awhile to get through. We did not pay our RPRF up front, we just got email 2 weeks ago asking for it. Yes your daughters information will go on the generic application form that you wife fills out.

Thanks creampop for all your help :) If I have more question while filling all forms I may come back to you as you seem to know a lot :D
