Hi. My long term girlfriend and I of 3 years will be married next year since in her country I am not allowed to be married until a certain age. We wanted to get married earlier, but unfortunatly we could not. I plan to sponser her for permanent residence in Canada shortly after getting married.

My question is: Will this be a problem that we are applying so soon after marrying? Will the embassy label us as getting married just for immigration purposes?

It won't be a problem as long as you have proof of the relationship before hand. E-mails, chat logs, cards, phone bills, and pictures from the previous three years.

good luck

There is no significance as to how long after you are married that you send in the application. Getting married doesn't really mean anything. What makes or breaks the application is your ability to show that the relationship that evolved into marriage is real and genuine. That should be your focus when assembling your application.
