Hello, my wife (Taiwanese) and I (Canadian) currently live together in Taiwan but are planning on moving to Canada.

As my wife's sponsor, will immigration Canada contact my current employer (in Taiwan)? I haven't discussed moving back to Canada with my boss just yet, I'm worried that if I tell them now I might get laid off. I was planning on waiting until after we applied and had a better idea of when we will be moving back to talk to my employer. Any info would be great.

No, they won't contact your employer.

You sound like you haven't gotten thru reading the paperwork yet.

I spent about 3 weeks (snatches of time here and there) sitting down with my partner and reading all the documents we need to submit. Now we understand clearly what happens in the full process and realize it's not so daunting and can do it without a lawyer. I suggest the two of you do the same before you work yourself up over things you don't really need to stress about :)
