Sponsoring spouse while on EI or Sick leave

hey, I am a canadien citizen wanting to sponsor my husband from the UK to live in Canada. The complication at this point and time, is that I am 4 months pregnant , and that I am finding it very hard to work. My friends , Co-Workers, and family are suggesting for me to go on sick leave, after which I would start on an early maternity leave, as Im finding it nearly impossible to stand for long periods of time, and my work entitles me to do exactly that.
My question is, when Im sending away the application, how would they look at it, given the circumstances? I fear with all of this, my income would not be enough to meet the requirements for sponsorship. I do not want to think about waiting to sponsor, but maybe in the long run , it would be necessary.
If anyone is going through something similar, please give me some advice. :S

There is no income requirement for sponsoring your spouse,you just can't be on social assistance.

Sponsoring a spouse makes you exempt from the minimum financial requirements. So going on EI will not hurt your application. You just cannot be in receipt of welfare benefits (other than disability) and qualify to sponsor. When the PR application is being processed, they will also look at the ability of you and your husband to support yourselves in the future but seeing as you are only off of work because of pregnancy, that shouldn't impact you.
