Hi Everyone,

I have been reading the posts on this site for a while now. Thanks so much for sharing all your experiences. I will be sponsoring my husband and we are currently preparing the forms and documents. It's going to be an outland application and for Quebec. Visa office that will process will be Ankara.

I have a few questions:

1) Is it mandatory to print the barcodes for IM1344 and IM0008? I know it's time saving for the immigration office but we already filled those by hand and my husband signed those already. If we fill it on the website again and get the barcodes, he needs to sign and re-send me the papers again. That's gonna take another another week or two. Would it be worth it?

2) IM0008 form is asking if he has received his CSQ - so he said "No". But then it's asking when did he apply for it - we don't know what to write there because we will apply for the CSQ once we get the sponsorship approval from CIC. What should we write in that box? N/A , leave it blank, or explain it on a separate sheet of paper?

3) For supporting documents how back did you provide the telephone call details, whatsapp chat history, Skype live chat history? (6 months, 1 year??) Also have you translated those to English?? Our whatsapp chat history is more than 300 pages, if it requires translation then it will cost us a fortune!!

Thank you!

I can't help you with any of your questions except for #2. We left it blank.

We also had the same reaction. Why does the Federal form ask for a CSQ number when you only get it AFTER the Federal one is done?

G'luck...

The form is not used solely for applicants under the family class, so other types of applicants may already have the CSQ (just to explain why the form is confusing; it's a rather generic form used for more than one type of applicant).

As for the bar codes, I want to make it clear that I'm NO expert. Just one individual who went through an uneventful immigration process. My gut reaction, with no other information to draw on, is that it's worth one week to have very clear forms with the bar codes, versus sending handwritten forms. In the end, does it make a difference? Probably not (assuming the handwriting is clear). BUT, this process will be very stressful, even if you do everything right, and many times before the end you'll be asking yourself if you made mistakes or could have done something differently to make the process shorter or easier. I'd take the extra week to be sure. But that's just my opinion.

Supporting documents: I haven't used whatsapp, and despite living together but being separated for several months due to military deployment, we didn't include any logs or records from our skype chats, facebook messages, or emails. Having said that, I'm American, and we met in my home state, where he lived, and lived together for almost a year before getting married, and had no red flags. In other words, I feel our burden of proof was low. If you have mostly lived apart, have had a short relationship, have large gaps in age/culture/religion, you will definitely want to show more proof. However, no CIC officer is going to read 300 pages of any sort of proof. Are you able to select some communication records from various stages in your relationship (a few messages from one month, a couple from the next, and so on) to show ongoing communication? You need to show that this is an *ongoing* and *genuine* relationship. It's not necessarily quantity, but quality. Show messages/communication/photos from a wide range of time covering your relationship.

Dear QuebecOkie, thanks for much for your reply. Looking at your process, I wish the same for me… There's no gap in age/culture/religion with my husband - that's the good part. We dated for two years before getting married. He used to live\work in the US and I was visiting him almost every month. He has just recently moved to Turkey, due to distance\travel cost\work I won't be able to visit him as often as I used to :( You are definitely right about quality being more important than quantity. Your post was an eye-opener for me, so thanks very much!
