My wife and I want to submit our sponsor application within 1-2 weeks of getting married, but I'm a little concerned about the part where they ask us to provide proof of relationship. The only proof we'll have available at that point is video/photos of the wedding and reception (i.e. the nikkah and rukhsti for the Pakistanis here). Will that be enough for the CIC?

We really don't want to have to delay our application just so that we an build up a collection of several hundred emails, call logs, and text messages to submit with our application. We intend to communicate daily after I fly back to Canada after the wedding, but all that will come after we submit the application.

i would submit the application right away - by the time the applicant portion is being evaluated, when they're determining whether the relationship is genuine, you'll have built up emails and phone bills to prove your relationship. i would definitely explain the situation in the application so they know to expect more information when the time comes.

Don't be in hurry try to attached as much as you can for proof.
Try attached your chats, phone logs, WhatsApp, Facebook even at least 5 papers each.
Also mention name of relatives in photos too.
If you send any gift ever or money attached that receipt.
Better go for honeymoon in northern areas and attached photos of honeymoon to make your case strong.

That's also what I was thinking earlier. Would my application get delayed if they have to ask us for more proof after submission?

I don't think you understood my issue. This is an arranged marriage, and there will not be any phone logs or instant messages until after the wedding. We will not be able to attach any of that since we will be submitting the sponsorship immediately after the marriage. The honeymoon is also out of the question for now; neither of us will have time for that until a few months after the wedding.

FYI my future wife is the niece of my mother's sister-in-law, so it's not as if we're all total strangers to each other. Wouldn't that help our case?

Since you have an arranged marriage and this is normal for your culture, you have to give the relevant information, such as describing the traditions of the marriage, when you first met your wife, if you stayed together on any nights, show the gifts that were exchanged, explain how the marriage was arranged etc. Just provide proof that your marriage followed the normal traditions for your culture and that will prevent red flags.

Yes Aquakitty is right. CIC is aware of local customs and understand that arranged marriages are common for your culture. Showing proof that the parents of bride and groom followed typical protocol in arranging the marriage and such would be a good substitute.

Makes sense, thank you! In this case, I shouldn't have any trouble providing them with proof that's relevant to marriages within my culture.
