Sponsoring PR to my spouse

While applying for my PR, I have added my common law partner on the PR application and we have received both our PR's on April 2023. I am now separated with my common law partner and I am planning to get married to at the end of 2024 to my current partner who is an Indian citizen. How long should I have to wait to sponsor my current partner for a Canadian PR or get him to Canada on a dependant visa?

Any inputs are much appreciated.

there is no waiting period since you didn't sponsor your common law partner, but make sure to declare them in your application

Thank you for your response. Just to confirm, so I can now sponsor my current partner for a PR, right?

As soon as you are married, yes.

No issue sponsoring but given the short timeline I would suggest providing proof of in person relationship. If your common law relationship was also relatively short, you broke up soon after getting PR, etc. there may be even more scrutiny of your application.

Thank you for the response. What can be the preferred the timeline to avoid scrutiny of my application? My marriage to my current partner is a legitimate wedding and we could also push the wedding to Nov 2025 if my application would be effected.

Really depends on how long you were together with your common law partner. How soon did you break up after getting PR? Have you spent time in person with your current partner? Scrutiny doesn’t mean rejection.

Spend as much time physically together as possible before applying. Check the application package for spousal sponsorship to see what kind of evidence is requested; gather as much as possible of that in advance of applying.
