Hi All,

I am planning to sponsor my mother probably next year. I wanted to find out few things before proceeding with the application process.

1. Minimum income requirement (Currently 2 members in family including myself). Salaried – Income last year: 60000.
2. I signed Debt Consolidation in 2010and paying the monthly installments on time, does it matter? Not Bankruptcy.
3. I also wanted to know if she applies for visitor visa and get rejected, does it affect sponsorship process? Keep in mind we are planning to apply for Visitor before filing Sponsorship documents.

Looking forward for a response.

1. The LICO table is the 3rd one here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp
If your mother will be the 3rd person in your family, you have to make 34,000 a year.

2. If you are not in active bankruptcy it shouldn't matter.

3. It will not affect the sponsorship process if she gets rejected to visit. Since you are applying for a visit visa, you might as well go for multiple entry so she can come and go.

so my question is: is it mandatory for me to work too before sponsoring and which option is better..should we first appy for their visitor visa and later PR or we can apply for their PR this year and visitor later after that ???(coz presently its taking 7 years for PR of the parents ..so we dnt want the processing times to chnge coz of our delay)
plz help!! we dnt want their case to be rejected and we want them here next year surely ( as visitors)...

First apply for their multiple entry visitor visa. Your husband can show income and write a letter stating that he is taking responsibility for them.

For the PR sponsorship, your husband can co-sign the application in order for his income to count as well. Look at Table 3 here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp for Low income cut-off. That shows you how much you have to show. If it is only the 2 of you plus parents, you would need the income for 4 people, that is $41,307 per year. If you have children too, they have to be added to the total number of people.
