I am planning to apply for PR for my parents next year. They don't have birth certificates since it was not common to get one in my country at the time they were born. We are not able to get the documents now.

I saw these posts (and some others too) from 2009 where its mentioned that affidavits with other documents showing the birth date like school and university certificates will be accepted by CIC as proof of birth

Please let me know if that still applies today.

I am also in the same boat.
Hope some senior members can help us in this situation.

you don't need your parent's birth certificates ......only your birth certificate needed to show the relationship between sponser (child) and applicant (parents)....for depended children u might need their birth certificates i am not sure....hopefully it will help

Thanks Amarpreet that's what i was thinking before reading this thread.
Thanks for the clarification.
