sponsoring outside Canada - I am in the UK

Hi,
do you know how long does it take for UK to process my application? We submitted the application in April and we received the letter from the Canadian Immigration authorizing my partner to sponsor me at the end of June. A colleague of mind told me that the whole process would only take 6 months? Is that right? Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Sponsor lives in Canada and the sponsored in the UK.

you will want to direct this question in the London specific thread. there is a spreadsheet that tracks application progress there. i believe the "trend" may be 8-10 months for UK.
