Sponsoring new born child before landing

We got our PR and they're valid until mid November.
Now we're pregnant and would like to give birth in our current country because of medical problems.
They due date is September.

Is it possible to delay the landing until the child is born and then add him to the current application?

Or it's preferred to make the landing before giving birth and then just make a new sponsorship application for him?

In Ontario, you are entitle to health coverage after 3 months of landing. Why wait when you can land now.

I am assuming when you say you got your PR, you mean you got COPR. You are not officially PR until you land in Canada.

If you land in Canada before the baby is born, depending on what province you plan to land in and when you land, you may have to pay for birth of child if baby is born in Canada less than 3 months after you land.

If you land in Canada after the baby is born, you cannot land in Canada until the baby is added to your COPR. You don't have a choice, unless you want to be banned from sponsoring your baby when you don't declare baby at landing. You would have to inform CIC that a baby is born and need to add baby as PR before you land.

The choice is yours to make.

You can add the baby when there is 2.5 months left of COPR. However chances are you may have to redo your medical exams as COPR validity date is last day of medical result validity. I don't think CIC will be able to add baby added to new COPR in under 2.5 months, considering new PR application forms need to be updated with baby's information, new official translated document if needed, and medical test done for baby. A new COPR will be issued with newborn added with new expire date based on new medical test done.

Yes certainly that is an option. However this would only be in the case where you BOTH come to Canada and land as PRs, then go back to home country to deliver baby.

If baby is born BEFORE you become a PR, you MUST add the baby into your current PR application.

Yes, As RobTO said, it is an option to take. However remember there is no inland application for sponsoring baby for PR. It is only done outland procedure.

The difference is you are not sponsoring your spouse anymore. Spouse can be sponsored inland along with dependents if they have any. This time you are only sponsoring your child.

Cic has returned applications to parents sponsoring their child/ren inland explaining that sponsoring child/ren can only be done outland. So if you went ahead and applied inland for your child, CIC will simply return your application and tell you to apply outland.

It's the same PR application for spouse outland.

The only difference is instead of listing your spouse as applicant, you list your child as applicant.

I agree! Land now. Health care will be granted well before the September due date. This way your baby will be Canadian and you won't have to worry about sponsorship. Not to mention, the neo-natal care will be very good. You can use a midwife for pregnancy check ups in the mean time before receiving health care.

If your child is born in Canada, then he or she will be a Canadian citizen at birth by virtue of being born in Canada. You will not need to sponsor them for permanent residency.

If your child is born outside of Canada, then citizenship will depend on whether either of the child's biological parents are Canadian citizens [born in Canada or naturalized]. (That's presumably you and your partner, but that may not be the case with certain family arrangements.) If either the child's mother or father is a Canadian citizen, then the child may also have citizenship from birth.

If the child is a Canadian citizen from birth, then they will already have the legal right to live in Canada and will not need sponsorship.
