hello everyone

I am totally confused about from where to get the police certficates as I am a Canadian and I have permenant residency in Israel, while my wife is a palstinian from the West Bank and in order for us to live in Israel I did for her something we call family re-union but its not a full permenant residency and has no rights in Israel.

So from where do we get her the police certficate from Palestine or from Israel? This is so confusing because Palestinians who don't have permenant residency in Israel and just live with their husbands in Israel, won't get police certifcates, so shall we get her police certficate from Palestine. So so confusing

So do you live in the 1967 or 1948? it depends? If you live in the 1967 and have "Hawya", then you you can apply for a police certificate from the PA, other wise, if you are an 1948 citizen, then you have to get from the police there

thanks for your reply, I have hawya ( and live in Jerusalem ) but I am not an Israeli citizen, I just have the hawya.

My wife is does have a Palestinian hawya and just has a permit to live with me in Jerusalem, I think this means that my wife needs to get the police certificate from the Palestinian police and not the Israeli police

you can do that, and explain what your logic was in your application when getting the police certificate. If CIC wants another type of certificate they will ask you - but at least you show that you have tried to get the correct one!
Good luck,

Yes! if she has hawya and lives in the WB that means you need to get a police certificate from the PA, it takes 2-3 weeks to get one. A police certificate from the PA should be enough if she didn't live outside the WB more than 6 months, otherwise you need to arrange for a certificate from that country. i.e. if you mentioned in the application that she lived 2 years in Jordan, then you have to get one from Jordan too.

Good luck !

ism45 you seems very familiar with the situation in palestine.

You know most arabs from 1967 have a green hawya ( which means they can only live in the west bank ) and not Israel, while I am also from 1967 I was born in Jerusalem which means I carry a blue hawya, which entitles me to live in Jerusalem and anywhere in Israel as a premenant resident, so in order to get my wife live with me in Jerusalem which is Israel I did for her a family re-union that needs to be renwed every year, but that does not entitle my wife for any rights like I get from Israel, it means she can only live with me in Jerusalem with no rights.

So i guess I will have to pursue the Police certificate from Palestine for my wife.

Oh that's is a complicated situation! Nevertheless, if she has green ID I think she still need to get it from the PA. If the visa office in tel Aviv wants more. They will ask for it. Remember also that the green ID number is also an Israeli issued one. So you will be fine

She needs a police certificate from any country she has resided in for six months or more since the age of 18. So if she's lived in both countries, she needs police certificates from both.
