sponsoring my pakistani wife need help plz

hi, I am a Canadian citizen lives in U.S on TN work permit visa,i got married on sep 2013, I would like to sponsor my wife she is from Pakistan but she lives with me in U.S as she has a B2 visit visa.i would like to sponor my wife. can anybody tell me am I eligible? and from where should I start?

You are eligible to sponsor your wife while living outside Canada. You can sponsor her outland if you wish to remain in US while awaiting PR sponsorship. If the wife has been living in US for more than 1 year, she can request that the papers be sent to US instead of pakistan. If wife has a Canadian visa, you and your wife can move to Canada and start inland sponsorship. But that involve quitting your job in US and finding another job before starting your sponsorship.

It depends on what you wants to do. Inland if possible or outland. To answer your question, as a Canadian you can sponsor your wife for PR.

thank u so much for your reply,u can see only one application on cic website which is this Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class [/b]and it does not say inland or outland, is this the one I have to fill? and in documents checklist I says submit original "option C printout" I am living in US for past few years how can I show my tax in Canada? will it effect my sponsorship?

Outland application is here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp. Include a letter explaining that you don't have an Option C because you haven't been living in Canada for several years; you can include your US tax document instead.

Because you're living outside of Canada, you will also need to prove that you are returning to settle in Canada

If the wife has been living in US for more than 1 year, she can request that the papers be sent to US instead of pakistan.

To clarify, she doesn't have to have lived in the US for more than 1 year; she has to have been admitted for at least 1 year, i.e. a person with a 1 year US visa who entered the US last week is eligible to select Ottawa.

And also police certificate does she have to get it form Pakistan or US?

A job offer from a Canadian employer would be best. Also signing a lease. But these you may not have ready before you apply. So submitting a general plan on how you plan to setting back in the US is the best you can do. Other things that can help is if your visa to the US expires around that time (would prove that you have to leave the US).

If your wife has been living in the US for more than 6 months, she will need a police certificate (FBI certificate) from the US in addition to Pakistan (unless she left Pakistan before the age of 18).
