I hope everything goes smoothly for you from this point forward; best of luck!bartjones said:A little update on my wife's immigration saga.
In June I asked our MP to contact Manila to see what was going on. They called me back a few weeks later and said Manila told them the file was "in line for review", which wasn't very informative.
On Monday I got her most recent GCMS notes which showed that my MP's office had contacted the VO in Manila who had told them that my wife's file was "in line for review and medical results are in line for review by senior medical officer". A review by a senior medical officer usually happens only where there is a potential medical admissibility issue, which doesn't exist in my wife's case. I was a little pissed.
So, I contacted the MP's office and asked why they hadn't mentioned the medical issue. She was also pissed because, she says, the Manila VO never said anything about a medical issue. She said she would contact them again to find out about it.
Today I got an email from the MP's office saying they spoke to Manila again who now say there is no medical issue and my wife's application will be approved on or before August 28th.
This morning I also got an email from Manila asking for another Appendix A and six passport photos within 10 days. I'll be couriering that out today.
I'm assuming that this all means we can expect COPR soon, but I won't beleive it until the DHL guy knocks on my door, lol. ;D
Congratulations!kazzy said:I'm in the December group and we got our visa today!
It really seems that people who filed in the second half of 2013 are getting processed a lot quicker than those who filed in the first half.CanNZ said:Congrats guys, but how in hell are you guys getting them so quickly?
I will be changing my address to a condo we are purchasing today soon. After that I will be getting my MP involved.
Yes, you should make a list of each box and its' contents. The description doesn't need to be very specific and the values can be ballpark. Declare those items when you land in Canada and they'll have you fill out the B4 form.ctcruiser said:So the question is, how does this work for customs? Just being a list of what all of the boxes contained?
Anything that was clothing or household, I attached a value of $10- 20.Also what kind of value are you attaching to clothes etc? Other than some board games and books, the vast majority of our stuff will be clothing and a few small household items.
No.Will it be problematic that they will be arriving at different times?
On page one of your next tax return there is a box you check to indicate you are a returning Canadian resident. Check that box and you're all set. Also, someone asked about how to deal with income tax when returning, and I'm very much interested in that as well
Just to add, I believe you need to ensure EVERYTHING is in your name only, as you will be tax/duty exempt as a returning Canadian. You may also need to prove you've been living outside the country.ctcruiser said:So the question is, how does this work for customs? Just being a list of what all of the boxes contained?

If you apply to extend your permit, and your visitor visa expires while you are waiting for a decision, you still have temporary resident (visitor) status. This is known as implied status.
She has implied status until you receive the response.CanNZ said:Question for the board.
I applied to AGAIN extend my wife's visitor visa and haven't gotten the new one in the mail yet. I am not sure if she will get it before her old one expires, does my wife have to leave the country(to the U.S. on a VISA run so to speak) on/before the date her old one expires or does she have "implied status"?

From the way I read it, she doesn't have to. I am going to phone CIC tomorrow and make sure though.
