I quit my job recently to travel to my husband's country (Austria) and live with him there for 3 months while we worked through our visa paperwork. Now that I have returned to Canada, our application is ready to send except for one detail.. On the IMM5481 form it asks about my employment information and I'm having a bit of confusion, hopefully one of you will be able to help!

I'm currently unemployed by choice. I am living with my parents to save money (and will be staying with them even after I get another job, so that my husband and I have saved enough together to find our own place), but will be actively searching for a new job come January. If I can't find something else, my former employer has said that I am welcome to come back any time. But, I will be unemployed when the application is sent in. My parents have said they are willing to offer us a place to live rent-free until we get on our feet after he lands in Canada.

Once I get another job, will I have to send CIC additional information letting them know that my situation has changed? If I change jobs, do I need to update them? Would it be better for me to wait to send the application in until after I have found another job (I expect by mid january or so)? Will my sending them my new employment information delay our visa process? Any information about this stuff is welcomed! Thanks!

You don't need to be working to sponsor your husband,
the situation is perfectly understandable, Just state the facts as they are.

Your application will be rejected if you go for welfare,
that is the only situation that you need to avoid.

You can update information once you have been approved as sponsor,
but right now you should be good to send the application
Good luck

Ok! So I only have to update them after I am approved as a sponsor? How do I do that? Would I mail it, or is there a space online that I can edit once they receive the application?

One more thing: The second page of this form asks for info on previous sponsorships, etc, but I have none. I am sponsoring my husband only and he is the only person I will ever sponsor - so that entire page is left blank. Is it safer to include that blank page when I send the application or can I just omit it entirely to save a bit of useless paper?

Once you are approved as sponsor you/your spouse will get a UCI/File number, for future correspondence you will use that to point your file/case.

The fields that are not applicable to you, write N/A on them. DO NOT leave any fields blank. This might be considered incomplete by the VO.

I am in the same situation so that make me confuse. I don't know if I should send my file or should I wait.
