LEON...PMM AND SENIOR MEMBERS...Need your expertise here

I worked part time till dec of last year...I applied to sponsor my child in November...he is 3....got sponsorship approved in Jan...I did not qualify for EI and after i had used all my savings i had to go on OW- welfare for two months...I am off welfare now and have found work but my son's status online still says application received.

My question here is now will this affect the decision and will this affect my chances of sponsoring anyone in the near future because of this?

My son's case being processed in Bufalo

I am so worried

How many persons are in your household, including the child you are sponsoring?

If the sponsorship was already approved, your status on welfare is unlikely to be an issue (if it were, they would have rejected your sponsorship.) At this point they should be processing your child's application (security, medical, etc.)

Of course, there's no guarantee, but especially given that you are no longer on social assistance, it would once again not be a bar to sponsorship in any case. Far more likely, the file is just awaiting processing.
