Hi there

I think my situation may apply to someone in this section, if anyone here had this experience before, please share with me.

I'm PR in Canada, and I'm sponsoring my wife for PR within Canada (and you know it takes extremely long time), her case is not finished yet, so she is in Implied Status right now (work permit expired)

We just had a baby so really wanna have her mother to come visit us.

I'm not sure if I can be the sponsor for my mother in law for the temporary VISA, or can I apply in the name of our baby (visiting grandchildren)?

Please help

Hi

You can invite her as a visitor. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=421&t=16. You cannot apply in the name of your child but can state in the invitation letter that she is coming to visit the child.

Yes, it's just a regular visitor visa. To be honest, I can't say whether the grandchild will be a plus or not. It really just comes down to the visa officer that processes the app.
