Me and my wife are both Canadian permanent residents. We had to move back to India due to a family emergency, because of which we our child was born in India. Now we wish to move back to Canada. What is the best way to take our infant child (Indian Citizen) with us to Canada? Should I apply for sponsorship for the dependent child? Or is it possible to apply for TRV, and then apply for residency once we all are in Canada?

You must be in Canada to sponsor your child for PR. You cannot sponsor your child for PR from outside of Canada.

You should apply for a TRV for your child so that you can all return to Canada together and then sponsor your child for PR once you are in Canada. If the TRV is refused, you should try applying for a TRP. If the TRP is also refused, one of you will have to move to Canada first to submit the sponsorship application for your child (and will have to remain in Canada while that application is being processed). Once the application is approved, the other parent can then move to Canada with the child.

Make sure you meet the residency requirement when you file the application to sponsor your child.
