Hi everyone im new to this but ive found so much advice on this forum. I am in the process of sponsorin my husband, we dated about 5 years ago for approx 5 months and we separated..we got back together last year in January, he proposed on my first visit, we got married 6 months later, and that ws my second visit, I visited him 3 months later after the marriage. We did not have a lavish wedding, we just got married in court, and I was satisfied with that..had my sister and his bestfriend. Ive never wanted to have a big wedding, im juss waay to shy for that, will the fact that we did not have a big wedding threaten our chances? Again, I have a child from a teen pregnancy, and he has one too from a previous rship whom he is not coming with here. I stay with my child in Canada, the mother of his child wont give him a copy of the birth certificate and wont allow the child to go for medicals since she has full custody. We had thought bt juss not including her in the application but thought if cic finds out, hel be denied for misrepresentation. Should we juss send our application with his daughters missing information with a letter explaining why? Will it affect our application? A s well, since i already take care of my son, im a student and survive on grants and OSAP, do i have to prove i have enuff income or no? Im really nervous. Does anyone knw how long Pretoria office takes to process the application?

My son is 5yrs old and is still my dependent. He is already a permanent resident here in Canada.

A big wedding is not a necessity. As long as it doesn't appear that you married suddenly without any of your family knowing about it, it seems fine. You really want to show that it is a real relationship and not something you threw together the day after you met to qualify for immigration. In my opinion, your case sounds fine. Your relationship developed over a period of time and you did have at least one family member at the ceremony.

If you are nervous about not having a big wedding, you could add some evidence documenting the progress of your relationship, plus any evidence you might have of a honeymoon, etc. Letters from other family members stating their support for your marriage would also be good. None of this is strictly necessary but it will help with your case if you feel that the wedding ceremony itself is a weak point.

Ok thank you soo much...i feel super relieved. Will be sending in my application to CIC-M on March, 29 so hopefully all works out according to plan. Wil keep yu all updated. God Bless..

What is OSAP? If it is Ontario social assistance, you can't sponsor.

It's the "Ontario Student Assistance Program" -- grants and loans for students to help with tuition and expenses while attending post-secondary education. It is not social assistance.
